لقد شهدت مئة زحف أو زهاءها، وما في جسدي موضع شبر إلا وفيه ضربة بسيف أو رمية بسهم أو طعنة برمح، وها أنا ذا أموت على فراشي .. حتف أنفي، كما يموت البعير فلا نامت أعين الجبناء
translation:
“I have seen a 100 battles or so, there is not a palm sized are in my body that has not the strike of a sword, the hit of an arrow or the stab of a spear, and yet here I die on my bed … “death out my nose” like cattle, may the eyes of cowards never sleep.”
