The instant you woke up, you felt terrible. Your nose was stuffy, you were weak and throat was sore. Sitting up, a coughing fit began. Great… you were sick. Sighing and laying back down, you had a feeling this would happen. The day before, you and Ludwig where outside training when all of a sudden it started raining out of nowhere. Not to mention it the weather in the mornings had been a bit chilly lately. You had hoped that Ludwig would cancel training just this once because of weather. But it wouldn’t be Germany if he did.

You glanced over the clock; 6:30. You were supposed to meet up with Germany in a half hour for training. For a second, you thought about calling him and telling him you weren’t going to be able to make it. But you knew he would make you double up on laps and exercises for the next time if you missed out on this one. That was not an option.

Groaning, you moved the covers from your weak body, you forced your limbs to move and stood up. You freshened up a bit before changing into some sweatpants and pullover hoodie with a tank top underneath. Then you proceeded to make your way downstairs and out the door, not wanting to be lectured for being late for training.

After the grueling 30 minute walk in your already sickly state, you managed to make it to Ludwig’s house on time to see him finish babbling to Kiku and Feli and sent them off to start running. He turned around just in time to see you jogging up to him. “Ah, _________. Glad to see zhat you are on time.” He said, looking at you with those beautiful crystal blue eyes that you loved so much.

It had only been a half hour and you were only halfway done training. You rested your hands on your knees and desperately tried to catch your breath. Your face was heavily flushed. Japan, who’s pace had been a bit slower than yours, caught up to you. “_________-chan, are you okay? You don’t rook so good,” The worried Japanese asked. You nodded. “I’m fine, Kiku. No need to worry about me.” At this point, you were practically lying through your teeth. Your body was aching, begging for you to stop and go crawl back into bed. You would have proven your point if you hadn’t broke out into a coughing fit. Everything started spinning…eventually turning black.

~Few Hours Later~

It was hot, unbearably hot. It felt like your skin was melting. Suddenly it was replaced with something cool… You slowly opened your eyes. Your vision was a bit blurry, but could make out a figure near you, placing a cool cloth on your forehead. Gradually, your sight returned and everything was clear. Ludwig was sitting in chair beside the bed you had been placed in. It wasn’t until then that you finally noticed you were inside his house and also in his bed.

“I see zhat you are avake. Zhat’s gut.” You sat up slightly, still feeling weak. “Do you remember vhat happened?” You blinked. “Ve vere training und you passed out. You had an incredibly high fever.” He lifted his hand and lightly pressed it against your forehead. “It seems to have gone down now.” The presence of his hand on your forehead made you blush. Ludwig noticed and started to become concerned, but you just shook your head.

“Danke for taking care of me, Germany.” You said, smiling up at him. He blushed and moved his gaze to something else in the room. “Willkommen..." He kept staring off as if he was in deep thought. After a good 5 minutes of silence, except for a bit of sniffling caused by your runny nose, Ludwig finally broke the silence. “You know, frau…You really scared zhe hell of me today. Vhen Japan came and told me zhat you had collapsed, I vas really vorried.” A dark blush crept onto his face. He was worried about you?

“Why were you so concerned about me? It was only a little fever.” “Because…” he gently pulled you closer to him and wrapped his arms around your waist. “Ich liebe dich.” You smiled and wrapped your arms around his neck. "Ich liebe dich auch." He also smiled, leaning in to close the gap and press his lips against yours. You kissed back but immediately pulled back. “Ludwig! I’m still sick!” Germany only chuckled, “I’m tough. I von’t catch a silly little cold.” With that being said he reconnected his lips to yours.

~Extended Ending~

A few days had passed and you had completely recovered from your illness. You wish you could say the same for you new German freund.

Coughing echoed through the house as you brought the German country some of his favorite food, wurst. “Now what were you saying about being tough and that you wouldn’t catch a silly little cold?” Germany rolled his eyes as coughed again. You checked his forehead and could tell that his fever had gone down within the past hour. “I know. I’m such a dummkopf for zhinking zhat.”

“Yeah, but you’re my dummkopf.”
