Words - Skylar Grey

I hate regrets but most of all, I hate this choking silenceThe coals and dry wood I heaped between us
With every "I'll call you back", and "can't talk now", I said
With every suffocating silence we experienced
Reaching out to each other but never being close enough
Those coals, now fire burning brightly between us
Ruining the bridges we built together from the ground up
Destroying the evidence of our deep longing for each other
With all the words that I should have said, but never did.
I wish I could extinguish them now with soothing words
And simmering self-change proof actions
But
I am unable to speak, my mouth can no longer form words
The guilt weighs heavily on my chest
And my once loud voice is now dead in my throat
So I whisper wordless apologies to the harmattan breeze
swaying the branches of the large Oak tree
In hope that your ears catch these wordless apologies
and the whispers fill the void I dug in your heart
