Finally free from being captive, Selina ran through the forest like her life depended on it.
She was afraid he might come running after her and demanding her to get back to the cold, gut wrenching and dirty room she stayed in.
He had told her where her last reported destination was, he was giving her a hint on where to start looking.
"I'm giving you exactly one month to find her and bring her to me. I don't need to tell you what happens if you don't, kapish?"
He had said to her right after untying her dangling body from the ceiling pipes.
She was afraid of losing her one and only child that she worked so hard to get back, and she wasn't going to.
"Hey, I need a favour from you." She called her long time friend.
"Yeah, what's going on?" Her friend asked, worried that something might be troubling Selina.
"Look, Anastasia. I can't talk right now. Please just meet me at the Central park in an hour and I'll tell you everything."
'She needs to know what kind of a man her boyfriend really is...'
Selina thought to herself as she walked to the nearest bus station.
_______________________________________"Baby, we need to talk." She said enthusiastically, feeling like the happiest woman on earth as she was about to deliver the good news.
"What is it, Julia? I'm busy." He said coldly to her and she felt hurt that he wouldn't give her the time of day, but he would be giving it all to the 'woman of his dreams' as he calls her.
"I'm pregnant." She said softly. His face changed to one of disgust and she couldn't understand why that is.
His reply was what broke her heart into tiny little pieces. "Is he mine?"
"What?" She breathed out, feeling light headed.
"I'm asking if the child is mine or not." He said, like it's a normal question to ask.
"You're the only one I've slept with, Jason. I cannot believe you right now." She said, tears burning her eyes.
"I don't want any children, Julia. Abort the child, I don't want it." She couldn't believe what her ears were hearing right now, that's when she decided to leave his sorry ass.
She was going to have this baby whether or not she would be a single parent.
Come rain or sunshine, she would give this child the love that she never got when she was young.
"I'm having this baby, Jason. If you don't want it then I'm leaving. I'll raise him or her on my own and find a stable job to be able to take care of me and this baby. I don't need you."
She spat out, feeling like a weight just lifted from her shoulders.
She stormed out of his office with him calling after her. She left the building and went straight to her car, got in and drove away from him, for good.
"Hello? Is this Mr. Croft?" She asked the person on the other end of the phone.
She knew the moment she got in her car what she needed to do.
She called Michael Croft, the man who owned half of the city. He owned restaurants, hotels, and even certain companies.
One could say he was a very clever investor. The secret about Michael is that he was also a part of the Pythons gang, but left a few year ago and started his own business.
Jason, being the richest man in New York at the time, was replaced by Michael who owned half of New York City and putting Jason in the second place, which automatically made him an enemy.
"Yes this is he. May I ask, who would like to know?" His deep voice rang through the phone, sending shivers down her spine.
"This is Julia Anderson. I'm calling you about the job you offered when I came to one of your companies for an investment."
She said softly.
"Ahh yes. How about you come to my company tomorrow morning.
We'll discuss everything when you get here." He gleefully said."Okay, I'll be there." She said, just before hanging up and throwing her phone on her old- looking couch.
She needed to move out of this hell hole, and this job would do a lot more than just allowing her to move to a better house.
Making her way to the bathroom, she stripped her clothes off and got in the shower, enjoying the warm water running down her skin.
Everything was finally falling into place for her, at least for now.
_______________________________________"Selina, how are you? It's been a while." Anastasia hugged her long time friend when she got close enough.
"We need to talk, not just about the favour, but about Jason." Selina got straight to the point, making Anastasia turn her head slowly to her.
"Jason Martinez has a twin named Mason, he lives in England. Jason is the leader of a gang named the Pythons and he's a very dangerous guy.
He kidnapped me a few weeks ago, but he let me go because he needs a favour from me; find a girl named Michelle and bring her to him.
He threatened to kill my son if I don't do it and I'm too afraid to find out what will happen if I don't find her.
He has a girlfriend named Julia, who is pregnant with his child, but she left him because he said she should abort the baby..."
Anastasia zoned out after this.
She felt her chest clog up and close in on her... How could he do this to me?!
She thought to herself. She knew that Jason was leading a double life so the gang leader part isn't what shocked her. The fact that he cheated on her and has a baby on the way is what broke her.
"Ana, are you okay?" Selina asked her, disturbing the turmoil going on in her head.
"Yes I just didn't expect to hear this... What favour do you need from me?" She asked instead, hoping to change the subject ASAP.
"I need you to loan me some cash. I need to find that girl in less than a month, I'll repay you once I get back, I promise." She pleaded, hoping that she could understand that she didn't have much time.
She needed to leave as in yesterday.
"Of course. I'll transfer the money to your account the minute I get home. Are you sure you won't get into any trouble with Jason?"
"No. He has no idea that you and I know each other, so I'm good. You, need to leave him. He's dangerous, Ana, you need to save yourself."
Selina said, but one thing she didn't know was that Anastasia was trying by all means to do so.
One thing that was stopping her from making a drastic decision, was the thought of her being pregnant with Jason's baby.
She planned to tell him today, that's if he returned home.
