The next morning, Anastasia made an appointment with her doctor for later that day. She would be doing her first CAT scan since she fell pregnant.
“Do you want me to accompany you to the doctor? I have the whole afternoon off from work since your appointment is at three.” Michael says.
He took it upon himself to make breakfast for the two of them that morning, making sure his woman was well fed.
He didn't understand why or how he felt so attached to Ana's baby, maybe it was because he finally accepted all of her, her baby included.
“It would be lovely, but you don't have to skip work just for me. I'll be fine on my own.”
The idea of going out together in public, let alone where she is known didn't seem frightening to her, she actually wanted it to happen.
“This baby is mine as much as it is yours, so I'm coming with.”
He defended. He wanted to be there for her the whole way throughout the pregnancy, he wanted to make sure she was happy and never overworked herself, and the only way he would be able to do that, was if she moved in with him.
The idea has been on his mind for the past days since he admitted his feelings for Anastasia, but he never got around to actually ask her to move in with him.
Knowing Anastasia, she would only move in with Michael if she got to split every household expense between the two of them in return.
She wouldn't want to move in for free, she would put up a fight instead of living for free, and he loved that about her. He loved how independent she was, how hard she worked for everything she has today.
_______________________________________Jason was seated in his office when he heard a knock on his door. “Enter!”
He bellowed to the person on the other side of the door.“Sorry to bother you, sir. I've been digging around and you won't like what I have to tell you...”
To say that Jason was angry was an understatement.
He didn't like having his time wasted and the fact that Anastasia left him made his gang members feel like they were walking on thin ice with him.
“Get to the point, Jack!” He cut him off.
“I was able to pinpoint her location, boss, but you won’t like the discovery.” Jack said, fearfully trying to indicate to his boss that this is not something he wants to hear. “What is it?” he barked yet again, feeling annoyed with Jack for beating about the bush.
“She’s living at 23 Fairchild Avenue, one of Michael Croft’s apartments.”
_______________________________________Seated in the doctor's office, Anastasia and Michael waited for the results of the progression of their child.
“Anastasia, the results show that you're seven weeks pregnant.”
“Wait a minute. Seven weeks? How?” She wondered how it could be possible.
“When was the last time you slept with your husband? I'm not meaning to intrude, but I need to know.”
“It was six weeks ago, before that was well over a month ago.”
“That means the baby is mine?!” Michael sprung up from his chair, both in shock and joy.
“I don't mean to pry, but does your husband know that you're having a baby with another man?”
Anastasia couldn't help but become fearful for Michael. She knew that Jason was a fiend and nothing would stand in his way of getting what he wants, and she also knew that she was what Jason wants with his whole being.
Michael on the other hand knew exactly what type of a person Jason was, and he could put up a nasty fight if need be.
“I'm sure Jason has got the hint that it's over between us. He has no right to know about my personal life and who I'm seeing.”
She argued back with the knowledge that Jason might already be planning her abduction as they spoke.
“Okay, Miss Johnson. I will need you to return here in three weeks time to do a check up. I know it's a bit soon but you're a hard working woman so I need to do a regular check up on you. As tiring as that sounds, you have to be here.”
Anastasia released a groan from the very back of her throat as she thought about the future of her pregnancy.
Just the thought of having to skip work for weeks made her feel sick to the stomach.
“Ana are you okay? You look a bit pale, love.” Michael said, bringing her back to reality.
“I'm okay.” She smiled at him to ease his worried self.
“You may go home and please get some rest. We don't want you putting too much strain on your body.” Doctor Hills said.
Anastasia and Michael stood and left the doctor's office holding hands.
“What are we going to name her?” Michael said.
“Her? How are you do sure that it's a her?” She asked the man next to her.
“I can feel it. I know what I've planted in you. Trust the gardener and not the garden my love.” He said with a huge grin on his face.
How I wish to wipe that stupid smirk off his face.
Ana thought to herself as they reached their car.
“Well well well. If it isn't the former leader of the pythons gang and my ex wife.”
“Jason?”
