Laughing Ali says to Chip, "I think nurse Catherine is sweet on you!"  "Yeah right," Chip replied. "If she was she wouldn't be so quick to pop me with sharp objects!" He grumbled. At that point the doctor came in & said that they would run some tests that afternoon & if all looked well they could remove the drainage tubes from Chip's head. He would still have to stay a few more days to be closely watched, however.  Ivan & Ali stayed the rest of the day to ensure Chip's good behavior.

They returned to the ranch late that evening. "I want to go for a trail ride, just a short one.'' Ali told Ivan. They saddled up the horses & set out. I love you too much to do that!"  "I know you love the rodeo, & long distance relationships usually don't work out, I don't want us to end up hating each other.  I'd rather hold on to a few precious memories of a few nights of being with the man I love."  Ivan cleared his throat & began to tell her some things he'd been feeling for the last few days, but hadn't said.  "Ali, look at me," he said. "Ali you are an incredible woman, I'm getting too old for the rodeo, my body can't handle things the way it once did." He continued speaking softly, " I have been toying with the idea of coming home & settling down, & I think you're the one I'd like to settle with.  I'm not proposing right now, but It has crossed my mind. Not out of guilt or anything, Hell I feel anything but guilty when I'm with you!" He said roughly.  "You are one hell of a woman, we've known each other for years, We are comfortable together. We are good together."  ''I'm not sure if what I feel is love, I  don't know what love feels like, but I know the feelings that I've been having the last few days, I've never felt for another woman." I have never felt so possessive over a woman in my life."  Ali quietly listened, her heart wanting to jump for joy, but holding back hope for fear of getting hurt. "Ivan, Everyone I've ever loved has left me with the exception of Chip.  I've only dated a few guys, but it never worked out because because they didn't measure up to my memories of you, & I'd be lying if said that the thought of leaving them before they could leave me didn't happen, because it did."   "I don't want to have my heart broken by loosing someone I love again. So if you're going to propose at any point be sure it's because you are in love with me, not because you want to settle! I can tell you now my answer is yes IF  you ever do ask, but I don't believe in divorce & I don't think I'd survive losing again!" She said staring off into the distance. He pulled her into a kiss. When he pulled back He told her, "Ali I don't think I'm going back on the circuit. I won't ask you to marry me until I'm sure.
