'Don't go to work,' came the demanding voice from bed.

'I can't,' Elizabeth sighed, already pulling on a white dress shirt, and turning to the bed as she gathered her blonde hair into a ponytail, 'they need me at the clinic'.

'I'm sure Bernie can whine about his problems to someone else for a change,' Lucian answered, obviously disgruntled before appearing above covers. His hair had grown over the past few months, giving him a shaggier more primal look but to Elizabeth's chagrin, it had done nothing to hide his devilishly handsome face. If anything, it had made it worse.

Elizabeth glanced away from her handsome boyfriend and started buttoning her shirt, and mumbled, 'You need a haircut'.

'Ugh,' the response was before the former demon fell back into bed and placed a pillow on top of his face.

Lizzy smiled, giving his exposed leg an affectionate pat before looking for her socks, 'And we have dinner with Francis tonight, so could you please be on your best behaviour?'

Inaudible grunts sounded from under the pillow.

'I know you don't like her,' Elizabeth continued, prompting more grunts from her boyfriend, 'but she's my only friend at the clinic'.

'What,' Lucian muttered, finally pulling the pillow away from his face, 'you nerds don't talk to each other enough during lunch?'

Lizzy rolled her eyes before sitting onto the bed and pulling on her socks, 'I don't know what you hate so much about my job'.

'I don't know why you enjoy listening to other people pity their lives,' Lucian replied, sitting up to reveal his bare torso.

'I don't just listen; I try to help. That's what being a psychiatrist is,' Elizabeth muttered before looking at him, 'It would be nice if you understood that, at the very least'.

Lucian was silent for a moment before crystal blue eyes flickered down at her shirt, 'The only thing I understand is that that is my shirt, and I can see your nipples'.

Blush creeped onto his girlfriend's face before she gave him a half-hearted smack on his chest and started the process of unbuttoning everything again.

'Oh, let me help with that,' came the smirking suggestion.

'No,' came the knowing retort.

'Oh, come on, I'm pretty good at it,' Lucian grinned, pulling a laughing Elizabeth into his arms until she finally melted and all was blissful again in the morning covers.

'Late?'

Elizabeth stopped in her tracks, before turning to her co-worker, 'Yeah, slept through the alarm clock'.

'Really?' Penny asked, raising one red eyebrow. She had recently been going to a famous hair stylist in town who had sworn she would look good as a redhead, and Penny had believed him despite her friends' warnings.

Elizabeth didn't comment, she could only think of how her relationship with her co-workers had worsened after she had taken Lucian to a work party. Everyone had jumped on him like a bunch of hyenas in heat but they soon realised that he was as cold as ice to people he wasn't interested in, so the work party had been very awkward. It ended with Lucian icily telling Penny that she needed to get away before he "throttled her with the celebration banner". It didn't help that Elizabeth had overheard hushed voices in the toilet, claiming that maybe it would be kind of hot to be "throttled by a celebration banner".

Lucian's name had been part of the hushed conversations throughout the workplace for the next month and people were wondering where Elizabeth had managed to meet someone so out-of-the-world beautiful and debates about whether Lucian throttled Elizabeth with his celebration banner continued in earnest.
