Shadows flickered along the dappled floor cracked sunlight lit up the crevice in a sallow glow. Enveloped between circular grey sides, five cats, their pelts fluffed up from a harsh breeze, settled across the gritty floor, each a tail-length apart. 'You better have a good reason for making us trail all this way, Greystar; I'm soaked through to the skin.' A long-haired black she-cat grumbled.
The she-cat called Greystar surveyed the other cats with a thoughtful glance. 'Well?' The black warrior pressed.
'Trouble is coming that will split the forest into two separate Clans.' Greystar murmured a faraway look in her luminous eyes.
'What do you mean Greystar; the Clans are fine.'
'Yes but not for long.' The former ShadowClan leader replied absently.
'You have bees in your brain the Clans have been fine for moons. Come on Bluefire I've had enough of this nonsense.' The black she-cat rose to her paws as a blue warrior joined her.
'Wait, Smokestar I'm sure Greystar will explain just give her more time.'
'No I'm cold so I'm leaving this damp place.' Without another word, the two cats padded out of the crevice, Greystar didn't look up she lay flattened against the ground her eyes blinking blankly. The two remaining leaders exchanged confused glances with each other. ' I'm going too.' One of them sat up and trotted to the cranny entrance she looked back over her shoulder, ' You coming?'
'No.'
Once the crevice was empty Crowstar sauntered over to the lying she-cat. 'Do not go.' She looked up at him her eyes flashing wildly
'What do you want to tell me?' He asked her, 'Is is bad?'
'Very.' Greystar mewed she sat up again and have a pelt a few ruffled licks. 'Darkness is coming to the Clans and the Forest will split.'
'What darkness?'
'Traitors. You must go and send vision to the Dappled Light. Only they can stop the darkness from spreading.'
There was silence while Greystar crouched down again muttering words under her breath. After the golden light was replaced with the milky hue of the moon through the draft, and Greystar remained unmoving did Crowstar slip out from the rocky hollow and into the whispering night. All the other StarClan cats said Greystar was mad yet why did Crowstar feel ominously shaken by her words. What could be so bad that it split the Forest in half? However the Darkness was forgotten by the cats who had heard Greystar's omen and would only be remembered until many moons later.
