I wake up the next morning hearing to the birds outside of the house. God, I missed that sound. I prepare some breakfast. A bagel and some black coffee. This will help me wake up and focus for sure. I proceed to go to my office, with my coffee in hand, and then I start going through the files again. I then take out my little notebook and write something in it. After I finish that I take my backpack and the bag with the laptop and I go downstairs.

I say goodbye to Sierra and Tim and I head to the police station. There I find Alex, typically, drinking coffee with his coworker, and good friend of mine, Annie.

"Hello Alex, Annie," I greet the two detectives. Well, not exactly detectives. Annie works at the cyber crime department. Maybe I'll give the laptop to her.

"Hey!" Annie says as she gets up to greet me properly. Now her features are shown more clearly. Her blue uniform seems a little loose, so I suppose she lost weight. Her blue eyes are being hidden by her glasses, as always. Her golden hair is tied up in a ponytail, the same hairstyle she had ever since high school.

"You lost weight, didn't you Annie? Maybe some guy will finally date you," I say teasingly. She immediately gets mad and starts acting like a kid. I know it's a sensitive subject for pretty much everyone, but it's been a joke ever since we were in high school. Besides, I just said the truth. She has never dated anyone before and as her friend since high school, I know that for a fact.

"Hey! Do you imply that no guy dated me before because I was a little chubby?" she says with anger in her voice.

"What? No...I would never!" I exclaim dramatically as I continue to tease her.

"Jerk," she mumbles under her breath but I hear it. At that moment Alex decided to talk, even though all three of us knew he enjoyed it too much.

"Stop being kids you two," he says while chuckling in between his words.

"Look who's talking," Annie says with sarcasm while glaring Alex.

"Whatever shorty," Alex teases her for being 1.58 m. tall.

"Anyway. Did you do any progress, Simon?" Alex asks me but I nod my head in disagreement.

"No... Sorry. But I made a psychological profile," I say as I sigh in defeat. This case is really stumping. Alex wasn't exaggerating at all.

"Well, we'll talk about that in my office," he says as he starts walking to his office, signalling me to follow him. Before I do that I take the bag with the laptop off of my shoulder and I give it to Annie.

"Hey, Annie. Can you do me a favour?" I say as she hums in response.

"I took this computer by accident. Can you open it and find the owner?" I ask her. She then wiggles her eyebrows in a weird way and smirks. Oh no, I am screwed.

"Oh, well I could but, what could a girl that can't keep a man do?" she says as she dramatically puts her hand on her forehead and falls on the chair sighing.

"Haha. Very funny. Can you please do it?" I ask her with more desperation in my voice than I intended.

"Hmmm... Fine. I will. Just to help the poor person that lost his computer," she says while she takes the bag from my hands and then leaves, leaving me there wondering what the heck just happened.

Well, as long as she does it I don't care. I walk towards Alex's office. I see him in there sipping coffee from his cup while sitting on his big, black, leather chair.

"Took you long enough," he comments as I give him a small, annoyed smile.

"Oh, now you know sarcasm." I snap back referring at the conversation we had through the phone.

"Oh, shut up!" He says punching my arm lightly.

"Whatever. Do you want to listen to my notes or not?" I ask him with a sharp tone in my voice. And it looks like he understands what I mean, as he sits up in a proper position on his chair and looks me in the eyes.

"Shoot," he says and I get out my notebook from my backpack and I start reading.

"He is a sadist, for sure. He probably kills for the hell of it. And he sure loves to confuse us. He tortures all the victims, before he kills them, in a horrific way. He is really violent, as you have guessed yourself, so he maybe was a victim of abuse or was used to witnessing violent behaviour and as a result, he grew to become the person he is today. Ηe also might be a complete psychopath or some sort," I say, taking a big breath at the end.

"Alright. Give me the notes so I can write a report," he says and I hand him the notebook. He quickly takes it and starts typing. An awkward silence falls into the office so I just sip on my coffee until it ends and I throw the cup in the trash.

"Alright," he says as he hands me the notebook. "Why doesn't the guy turn himself in already. It would make my job so much easier," he exclaims making me kind of mad. Like, excuse you, I wrote those stupid deductions.

"Don't you mean our job. After all, it was me who made the psychological profile." I remind him but it seems he doesn't care enough.

He just signs me to get out and I do exactly that. As I am about to leave I listen to a familiar calling me from behind.

"Wait, Simon!"
