"I know we've been talking for awhile-"
"Past four months to be exact."
"-okay yeah. Four months you fucker." Aleks says into the phone leaning against his shoulder. He was washing a dish, soapy bubbles going up his arms.
"I just think it's about time we met, actually met." James says, trying to be convincing. It wasn't working all that well.
"I don't know." Aleks mumbles.
"We only live like thirty minutes away from each other. We are going to bump into each other eventually!" James insisted.
"I know."
"Okay."
"Okay."
"Then I'm going to show up at your door with a bunch of flowers and request a nice night out. Just us."
Aleks scoffed.
"Sure. Whatever."
A familiar squeak of a door sounded behind Aleks. He nearly dropped the plate in his hands.
"I have to go. I'll text you later." he quickly mumbled Into the phone while wiping his hands off.
"Daddy?" a small voice called out behind him. He prayed James didn't hear that. He didn't know.
He quickly hung up the phone cutting off James confused goodbye.
"I thought you were sleeping?" he pipes while walking towards to small girl. She had long dark hair that went past her shoulders and wearing a filthy looking duck onesie that she never wanted to take off.
"I can't sleep." she states and Aleks frowns. He catches his phone lighting up on the counter behind him.
"Who were you talking too?" She asks. He tenses up before steadily walking over and scooping her in his arms.
"No one to worry about, Roza." She yawns and leans her head on his shoulder.

"How did you learn to braid?"
"Dorothy's mom showed her how to braid her dolls hair, she showed me yesterday." The smaller girl pulled on Aleks' hair tying small ponytails and braids. It was messy and each time she pulled it hurt a lot for Aleks, but he wouldn't complain.
"Dorothy's mom?" Aleks inquired. Roza nods happily. Yesterday was Thursday, he was at work. Roza was at daycare, something Aleks hated but couldn't stop happening. He had to make money some how.
"When are we eating dinner?" The girl asks, uninterested in Aleks hair now but her own. A big tangle forming halfway through her hair.
"Soon maybe-" Aleks gets cut off halfway as the doorbell rings.
He makes sure Roza is occupied as he stands up from the couch to get the door. He had on a dark grey shirt and sweat pants, things he slept in. It was friday, he didn't have work.
Aleks tried looking through the peep hole in the door but it was too foggy to even see anything. He pried open the door to find a nervous looking guy in a button up shirt and tie. He had nice features that Aleks vaguely recognized.
A single red flower was in his hands.
"Hey." the guys says and it dawns on Aleks that this, indeed is the guy he's been talking to.
"Shit." Aleks breathes.
"Uh-Nice hair?" he questions. Aleks runs his hand in his hair only to feel around twenty hair ties and small little braids.
