Because I'm His

Chapter 1

I silently sat down in the chair besides my twin brothers bed. I looked down sadly at the floor. My brother Jun was diagnosed with a serious illness a while back. He shrugged it off like it was nothing back then. Now its come back to take his life.

'Why? Why him? Why couldn't it have been me?' I thought.

Him and I are only 12 and our parents hardly pay any mind to us. Right now they're probably in the States partying. They left us with money to use until they come back, but not enough. The money is slowly dwindling and I don't know what to do. Jun's hospital bills are far too big. We would call mom and dad if it weren't for the fact that they changed their number.

"Mmm?"

Jun slowly opened his eyes and looked over at me.

"You're awake."

I plastered the best smile I could muster on my face. He smiled weakly in return. He couldn't talk much since it only caused more trouble.

"I'll be going then."

His eyes followed me across the room as I made my way to the door. Before I could turn the knob, it clicked open. I stepped back in confusion and a man dressed in a black suit entered.

"W-who are you?"

He smiled and held out his hand.

"I am Ittori. I'm here to present an offer to you."

I shook his hand hesitantly and smiled nervously.

"Go ahead."

He nodded and continued.

"I am a servant to the Nakagawa family. Mr. Nakagawa request for a young boy to become a permanent playmate to his son Hiroshi."

I looked at him in disbelief.

"I have to turn down the offer. I have my brother I have to look after."

He looked across the room over at Jun. I stood and waited for him to reply.

"No worries. We will provide you with a room in our manor and your brother with his own house with a nanny. Mr. Nakagawa will personally pay for the hospital bills until he is better. Even when he is an adult, we will keep sending him small amounts of money."

I turned and saw that Jun was listening to our conversation. I couldn't leave him alone while I stayed in a manor for the rest of my life with a spoiled rich kid. Then again, if I accepted, he would have no money problems for the rest of his life. I closed my eyes to think.

"I've decided."

He smiled and looked me in the eye.

"I accept your offer."

"Then please, come with me."
