Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life." Omar Khayyam _________________________________________

"Can we keep her?" Dean asked, dumping ketchup all over his fries.
I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. "She's not a pet Dean."
I glanced back over at our waitress. She was smiling with her co-workers and laughing. My eyes followed her as she meandered back over to our table, refilling my water and giving Dean another beer.
"Anything else I can get you boys?" She smiled warmly at us, clearly not put off by Lou and his rowdy gang members.
"Yeah. Do you think I could get another burger to go?" Dean took the last swig of his beer, setting it on the edge of the table.
She laughed, "Of course. I'll be right back."
We finished our food quickly and I tugged a few bills from my wallet, making sure to leave a generous tip.
Our waitress came back over, handing Dean his burger in a styrofoam box. I nodded my head in the direction of the diner door, and Dean got the memo. We slid out of the booth, waving a quick goodbye to our impressive waitress. As soon as we got outside Dean began blabbering about how amazing she was.
"That was awesome! Did you see that shot? She was bad ass in a Kill Bill sort of way."
I scoffed, sliding into the passenger side of the Impala, as Dean tossed his leftover food into the backseat, starting up Baby. "Yeah, it was pretty cool, but I think she's a little young for you Dean."
My brother only rolled his eyes at me, grumbling something indiscernible, as we backed out of the parking lot. I let out a sigh as Dean blasted the radio, AC/DC greeting my ears at what was surely an unsafe decibel. I just prayed this wasn't going to be a long case.

"Okay Rico have a good night. I'll see you tomorrow," I cheered closing up Joe's. I locked the doors and took the walk to my old Mustang, Beth. The chilly night air felt like pins and needles as it nipped at any exposed skin.
I walked up to Beth and wrenched open the door, quickly climbing in. I tossed my hobo bag on the seat next to me, listening with glee as my girl purred to life.
I was half way home when I noticed a car following me. It may have been my exhaustion from the double shift, or I was just being paranoid but I had to be sure. I turned the corner sharp, taking a different route home, and my fingers clenched around the steering wheel as I watched the car take the same turn. I couldn't let them know I was on to them. Whoever it may be.
