Kaycee's POV
I sat on the couch in our LA apartment anxiously waiting for him to arrive. I knew when he got home something bad was going to happen. I knew I should have left him a long time ago.
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard the door unlock. "Hi Gabe" I said, trying to cover up my anxiousness. He stared at me, his eyes a deep red as he was obviously high on something. I stood up and walked over to him, smelling his reek of alcohol. We stared at each other for at least 10 seconds before his phone chimed, and he read the message. "Who is it from?" I said. "No one" he said annoyingly. "Oh come on, just tell me" I said. "It doesn't matter Kaycee!" He said angrily. My instincts took over and I grabbed the phone out of his hand, and read the message. "Hey babe. Come over tonight. Tell that Kaycee bitch you're going out with friends or something" the text said. My heart dropped, and I felt myself throw his phone onto the floor, followed by a loud shatter. Gabe stepped closer to me and then, unexpectedly, slapped me across the face. "bitch" he said angrily before walking into our bedroom and slamming the door.
I felt tears begin to sting in my eyes. "You need to leave Kaycee. Go anywhere but here." I thought to myself. I grabbed my bag and ran out the door, running through the apartment complex halls before I reached the parking garage, and then my car. I got in and buckled my seat belt, and frantically thought of places I could go. "Sean" I thought to myself, and put the car in reverse.
Once I arrived at Sean's 2 story modern LA home, I got out of my car and walked up to his front door. I knocked frantically, tears streaming down my face before he opened the door. Worry spread across his face, and he pulled me into a tight hug. "What happened Kayc?" He said softly, but I couldn't find the words to answer.
Sean's POV
I grabbed her hand and walked her over to the couch, and we sat down. "Kaycee, please tell me what happened." I said worryingly. "H-he came come drunk and high, an-and I found out he's cheating o-on me, and h-he slapped me." she said, barley being able to make the words, not making eye contact with me. "Was that the first time he hit you?" I said. She looked up at me, tears streaming down her face. "No" she said, and more tears came down her face. I wrapped my arms around her, and she buried her face in my neck, soaking my shirt in tears. I didn't care though, I just wanted to be there for her.
I held her as tightly as I could. She continued to cry, and that's when it hit me. I'm in love with her. I want to be there for her 24/7. I don't want to let her go. Out of instinct, I pulled her out of the hug, and wiped the tears off of her faced. I looked deeply into her eyes, and then I kissed her. To my surprise, she kissed me back. She pulled away and stared at me.
"You shouldn't be with him. You know it, I know it, everyone else knows it. I love you Kaycee Rice, and I think we both know you should be with me." I said. She hesitated, but soon she said something I never thought I'd hear. "I love you too." she said. And that's where it all began.
