Driven by anger and by fervor to save Mayhem, I am able to control my abilities. With my supernatural speed, I dash towards the man who chokes Mayhem at the moment. He is forced to let go as I thrust him somewhere far. I only stop when we reach the woods.

"You will not touch him again!" I scream at him while his back is against the tree where I have him pinned. My fingers are around his neck, ready to strangle him if he makes a move.

"He will only risk your life! He'd even kill you if he finds out." He replies in a grave tone. While I stare into his eyes, I remember where I saw him. He's the man who saved me once from the other gang that tried to kill Mayhem and the others. Other than that, he's the same man that mother talked to every night.

"Who are you?" I ask in disgust, thinking that my mother is having an affair with his kind!

I see him opening his mouth to utter something. But my vision interrupts me from listening to him. Mayhem! He is now surrounded and threatened by the other vampires.

"Tell your men to stop." I ordered to him. "Make them stop or I will kill you."

When he smirks at me, I set aside any hesitation. With a wooden stake taken from my pocket, I skewer it right in his chest. Without looking back, I quicken my pace to get back to Mayhem. I realize by then that my speed can be hundred times faster than those vampires trying to fight against me. Securing Mayhem behind me, I look at them in the eyes and compel them to leave. Like I am a queen who gives an order, the cloaked men follow my hypnosis and in a blink of an eye, they disappear into the night.

I badly want to hug Mayhem but I couldn't even bring myself to face him. I, myself, is now in cloak, in red cloak. Without saying a word, I walk away.

"Who are you?" Mayhem asks, making me halt from my pace. "Why are you helping me?"

Violet. You have to leave before he finds out. With that I feed my mind, I go into the woods. From afar, I watch him leave making sure he'll make it home safe. It's another problem I find for myself after an hour or so. In order for me to get in the tunnel, I need to pass through the Camara, the secret hide-out of the gang inside the school campus. But then, I realize what I just did while fighting against those creatures creeping at night, I am as fast as the sound or even as fast as the light. Like in a single snap of the finger, I return to the cabin without being caught.

Sleeping is no longer my thing. With all the darkness I feel within, my body doesn't need rest at all. Staring at the blank wall inside the room, I contemplate that all I need to do while I stay here is to practice all my abilities. I need to control my power so I don't have to hide or run away. I have to make sure that when I go out from these tunnels once again, I am ready to defend myself even if the measure includes killing whoever tries to hurt Mayhem and the gang, even if it's my own mom.

When the clock says it's already morning, I pretend to be asleep and that is exactly when I hear knocks on the wooden door.

"Violet, it's time for breakfast. Mayhem called and he'll be here in a minute." She informs, causing my heart to pound faster than its normal heartbeats. Will I be able to act around him without being strange after last night?

I guess I have to find about it. Since I stay in bed, Mayhem walks in after a few minutes. Without opening my eyes to check him, I know that he's staring at me. Afterwards, I feel weight adding on the bed. Mayhem sits on the edge.

"Violet." He wakes me as he taps my shoulder. I make a soft groan before opening my eyes. A warm smile from him greets me. "Good morning."

Cautiously, I mount out from bed resting my back against the bed rail.
