This book is written under a different genre, a genre opposite to what I usually write. So Gail, I hope you get to read this when you're not busy. ♥ God bless!

The fear I feel just intensified when I see my mother in the receiving area of our house with our travel bags by her side. My forehead creases in cluelessness. What does this mean?
"Get in the car."
"Mother, where are we going?"
"We have to leave this place, Violet. You are not safe here," She replies, making it more vague to me.
"Mom. We can't leave. I am not going anywhere."
"Why not? Violet, the school is burnt down and there are reported killings within the neighborhood! I am just making sure that you are safe!"
I shake my head to disagree. Before she could hold my hand to stop me, I run out of the house. While hiding behind the bushes, my wrist accidentally scratches against a sharp thorn. I see the cut before my eyes. But after giving it a second look, it's no longer there. That makes everything more petrifying.
"Violet Youngblood," Someone calls out. It's a woman in leather jacket and black pants. She is not familiar to me. "Your time is up."
"What—"
Something hits my back and everything turns black. I am so sure that I was hit by something which caused my unconsciousness. However, when I wake up and check my back, there's nothing there, not even a sign of something painful. I feel completely fine. But wait, where am I? To check, I look around and end up realizing that I am inside an empty wide room.
"Is somebody out there? Let me out!"
I have no idea why in hell would someone kidnap me. Is this for money? Could this also be the reason why mom decided for us to leave Silver Town? By the looks of it, escape is impossible so it would be better if I just stay put here in silence and just wait for mom to hand them the ransom money. I sigh at the thought.
Wait. What if this is not a kidnap for ransom? What if it is something else? What if it is something more? To keep myself from overthinking, I play with my fingernails. Accidentally, my eyes wander to my wrist and I remembered automatically the cut which just disappeared by itself in no time.
"Violet Youngblood." The woman in leather jacket utters as she gets in the room.
"Who are you? What do you need?"
"Some people used to say that if you can't get your enemy to their knees, get their girlfriend." She explains.
Nonsense. I haven't heard of that. Except now.
"I'm sorry. I'm not anyone's girlfriend."
"He wouldn't be here if you aren't."
Who is she referring to? Tsk. And why am I getting involved in their fuss? If only I follow mom when she planned to escape this city, this wouldn't happen. Well now, Violet, you've learned your lesson.
"Boss, the snakes are outside." A guy comes in informing the woman about what? Snakes?
"All of them?"
"Except him." The guy replies.
Who's him? What is going on with me? Since that day I forgot my talent of ignoring, everything began falling apart.
"Hey! What are you doing?" I complain when they pull me out of the room. "Where are you taking me?"
They answer that question silently. I find the answer when they take me outside the building where two familiar faces greet me.
