Morticia resides in my thoughts for the whole night. Aside from her, my sleeplessness is as well bothering me. If I won't be able to get any sleep tonight, this will be my second night without any rest. Wait, I think I've read this in the book. Sleeplessness is one of those abilities that I have, is that right? While questions continue to pop in my head, I decide in the end to get my laptop to research about vampires. I don't like what I am reading so I set the laptop aside, lean my body against the headrest of my bed and close my eyes to feel myself. However, I feel other's presence instead.

"I told you to stay away from my daughter!" That is my mother's voice. I have to locate where she is. There is another dark force that's blocking my vision. But I give all that I can to know who my mom is talking to. Eventually, I succeed. I see hazily a man in cloak whose eyes are so familiar. They're red and I don't care. All that matters to me at the moment is the fact that I have seen or encountered him somewhere.

"It's time, Clementine."

I hold back when I can no longer see them. However, I can still hear them talking so what I do is pacify myself and settle in a resting position to control my hearing.

"No Tristram. I have lost my other daughter. I can't lose another one. Please." Mom cries out. "Please, stay out of my daughter's life. Please. Leave Violet alone."

Mom's emotions get me, making me open my eyes. By the time I see myself in my room and not in another dimension, I no longer hear anything. I even try again but I can no longer perceive them. It's either, I have no control of my ability or perhaps the man in cloak has left. I cannot feel the dark force as well. That should explain it.

Waiting for morning to come, I stay in the living room so mom will notice me immediately when she gets out of her room. It happens as planned. Mom approaches me with furrows on her forehead, maybe thinking why I am so awake this early. Sleeping is no longer my thing mother. I want to tell her that but I just can't.

"Violet?"

"Mother. Who was that guy you're talking to last night?" I ask without ado.

"Last night?" She asks in her usual denial tone. "I was asleep early last night."

"Mom, I heard you! You're talking to this man in cloak with red eyes—"

"That is enough! Violet Youngblood, you are grounded. I will call the school that you'll be absent with my consent." She angrily declares. Of course, she can do that. She owns that school. At least, her family does. They almost own everything here in Silver Town.

"You cannot do that this time, Mother." I snap back.

"Get upstairs! To your room, Violet!"

To avoid her from calling our guards, I stomp my feet in taking the staircase towards my room. For about two hours, I let the time go by watching the scenery outside through my wide window. Wait. The book explained to me about enhanced speed and combat. That should mean I won't die if I jump down from here, right?

"Violet, as long as your head won't first hit the solid ground, you are fine. You survived the stab of a knife, you should be able to survive a sprain." I mock myself before climbing to the window and jump from there.

Don't expect me to land perfectly because this isn't  a movie! Damn it. My foot hurts like it really got sprained. Ugh. Violet, you are just a human with abnormalities. You are not a vampire with superpowers like that Tristram Heartford— What the hell! No...

"No Tristram. I have lost my other daughter. I can't lose another one. Please. Please, stay out of my daughter's life. Please. Leave Violet alone."
