11th Doctor x OC: Rachel

It was June third while The Doctor paced around the small hallway of the hospital, nervous for his wife, Rachel. It was their second year of marriage and they had decided to have a baby. Today was when that baby would be born, a week early. Rachel had opted for The Doctor to stay out of the room until they gave her the epidural.

A nurse walked out and whispered for The Doctor to come inside. “We gave her the shot and she is more calm now.”

“Thank you.” he said calmly before he bolted into the room. “Are you okay Rachel?”

“Doctor, come here.” she said.

The Doctor walked over to the bed and rubbed his wife’s stomach and spoke in a mock happy tone. “I get to meet you soon, raggedy boy.”

Rachel gave a soft laugh and ruffled her husband’s hair. “Silly man, what if it’s a girl?”

“Then she will be the most important girl in the universe.” he stated simply.

The doctor walked in then, checking if the baby was able to be delivered. “All right. You are ready to have this baby!”***

Hours later they had a baby girl with deep green eyes and brown hair. She was dressed in a pink blanket and a small hat before set into her mother’s hands. “Doctor. Our little girl!”

“She is as beautiful as her mother.” he said, kissing Rachel on top of her head. “Job well done, little River.”

“River?”

“Yes. I don’t see why we can’t name her the second most important name to me.”

“Second? Who is the first?”

“Rachel Smith. The only companion I really need.”

Rachel’s mother walked into the room with them, then. She gasped at the sight of her granddaughter. “What is her name?”

“River, mum.” Rachel replied. Rachel handed the baby to The Doctor, who kept a death grip on her, like she would disappear within a second if he made one wrong move. He gazed into her soft eyes, seeing the most potential anyone could ever have in one little being. She would grow into someone important, go to university, get a great job, and get married with a house and a couple of kids.

“You are so beautiful!” he whispered, kissing her on the forehead.
