The Lab Rat (Ereri)

Chapter One:

"Eren! do you know where I put that blood sample?" Hanji called from the back of the lab.

"I think you left it on the chair next to the ketchup and fries!"Eren called back.

"EREN! I don't think we have a blood sample anymore!" Eren face-palmed and pulled out his phone.

"Hi, Mr.Arlert, we're going to need a new blood sample.... Yup. Hanji ate it again.... yes, I'll advise her to do so... thank you." Eren hung up the phone and put it back into his pocket. "Hanji, we'll get the new sample in two days. Armin said that you shouldn't put the samples by the food anymore." Eren called. 

Hanji emerged from the back of the lab and smiled sheepishly. "Hehe, sorry Eren." Eren sighed and set down the paperwork he had in his hands and turned off the light to the microscope and placed his sample in it's rightful place. "Oh well, looks like we'll just have to go home tonight." he smiled.  Hanji put her arm around his shoulders and began walking with him to the exit.

"you know kid, you're alright." Eren punched her in the arm, causing her to laugh and they walked out, turning off the lights on the way out.

Aside from working in the lab together, Eren and Hanji actually live together too. they share a small apartment and share the rent. Eren used to live alone in an even smaller apartment for "personal reasons" but when Hanji insisted, they moved in together. 

After the lab, Eren and Hanji usually go strait to bed but this time they decided to just go eat at a fast food place. they both agreed on McDonalds.

Eren and Hanji sat across from each other, eating the remainder of their fries when a group of kids from their school come in crowding around the counter.

"Who're they?" Eren asked Hanji quietly. "they look really familiar." Now it  was Hanji's turn to face-palm.

"oh my god, Eren. How do you NOT know who they are. EVERYONE at school knows who they are.  Even the most anti-social people at the school, KNOW. WHO. THEY. ARE!" Hanji whisper-shouted.

Eren just shrugged his shoulders. "well i don't." he said simply. Hanji sighed and pointed her eyes to the group.

"Eyebrows over there, is Erwin Smith, the President of the sports club. He's a pretty nice guy for the most part so he's popular with the girls. His current girlfriend right now is the cute little strawberry blonde over there next to him. That's Petra Ral, Head Cheerleader and litterally one of the nicest people you will ever meet besides the petite blond, Christa or Historia, who is dating the tall girl, Ymir. Then, there's the shorty with the undercut, Levi Ackerman. He isn't into any sports, hates people in general, has a "short" temper, and is a complete clean freak. Therefore, he is THE most popular person, boy or girl, in the entire damn school. Seems fair? I think not."

Eren just stared at the group. "wow. must be crowded." he mumbled. Levi was extremely attractive and he had intense, silver eyes. 'Sometimes I think being gay is a curse...' He thought to himself. Then, he made eye contact with Levi. Involuntarily, he blushed and turned away and turned his attention back to Hanji. "What did you say Eren?" Hanji asked him.

"I said its getting a little crowded. we should leave." Hanji smiled at him and patted his head gently.

"Okay, Mr. Jaeger. Let's go home."  Eren swatted her hand away and got up to take care of their tray and she went to refill their drinks. Then they met at the door to leave.

The next day the two woke up and got ready to for school. They put  on their uniforms, which had the school's logo on it. The Wings Of Freedom, they were called, where two wings, one white, one blue, overlapped each other on a silver crest.

They then made their way down the sidewalk to get to the bus stop, where they would be taken to the school.

When they arrived at Maria High, students were already herding  through the doors of the school. This is Eren's least favorite part about school. why? You'll see.

EREN'S POV:

Hanji and I walked through the crowd of students to try to get to our lockers, when suddenly i was pulled back and slammed into a wall. Jean.

"Where you going, Jaeger-Bombastic?" He said pinning me against the wall.

"what do you want Jean?" i asked struggling to breath. His arm was up against my chest and it was getting painful. he smirked at me and pressed harder, causing me to cough,

"I don't want anything from YOU. I want-"

"Oi!" a voice called from behind Jean. Jean turned his head towards the voice revealing a short but muscular  figure.

"L-Levi?" Jean asks in shock. "Leave the brat alone. what the hell has he done to provoke you, Jean?" Levi remained expressionless and jean let go of my shirt with a glare at me then at Levi and stormed off in the opposite direction.

Did the most popular kid in the history of Maria High just save my sorry ass?! Why?! Doesn't he know who i am? I'm that weird gay kid/ scientist who is litterally the LEAST popular person in the school.

"Oi!" I heard Levi say, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked to the shorter male and smiled sheepishly. "Hey, brat, are you alright?" he asked me. i nodded sheepishly.

"Yes. thank you, L-Levi." i scratched the back of my head nervously.

"How do you know my name?" He asked me sceptically, although his expression remained the same.

"I- Uh.. Jean said it just a moment ago. Also, thanks for helping me out there." I replied awkwardly.

Levi smirked at my discomfort. "Well that hardly seems fair." he said. I looked at him, confused.

"What do you mean?"

"That you know my name but I have no clue what yours is." He said quietly. Is this really happening? The Levi wants to know my name?!

"I-It's Eren. Eren Jaeger." I felt heat rise to my cheeks.

Levi smirked at me once again and motioned for me to come closer with his index-finger. I obeyed and he leaned in to whisper something in my ear.

"Well, Eren Jaeger, I'll see you around." and he walked away, leaving me by myself, blushing like a madman. Holy shit. That just happened. Levi, the most popular kid in school, not only defended me against my bully, but he also cared enough to want to learn my name. And his eyes, they were like intense, burning orbs of silver. Shit. I thought I decided not to fall for someone so out of my league again. It's never ended well for me in the past. I am so screwed. I close my eyes and leaned back against the wall.

'Its too late. I've already started falling.' I think to myself. Hanji's gonna flip shit when I tell her about what just happened...
