Chapter 5
Lyric's POV
Before my mom can even get a word out of her mouth the next morning, I'm running out the door. I really don't want to talk to her. She has not once attempted to even apologize to me for what she has said. I don't know what I'm expecting because she won't ever apologize. As far as she knows I'm the one that should apologize. That's where she has it wrong. I'm not going to.
I start walking down my street to get to Amelia's house that is only a couple of blocks away. I usually walk down to her house and she drives us to school.
When I get to their house Amelia is already walking out of the house shouting something to her mom inside. I walk up to her car and wait for her to see me. When she finally does she unlocks her car and gets into the drivers seat. We sit there in silence for a while waiting for the car to heat up. She won't stop staring at me.
"What?" I snap.
"You look like shit." Way to be blunt Amelia.
"I know I didn't get any sleep last night." I sigh and lay my head on the window closing my eyes. She raises her eyebrows.
"So that whole practice thing went well?" She's smirking now as I roll my eyes. I'm seriously getting worried that my eyes will get stuck with the amount of times I roll them.
"No, nothing like that happened." I said as she started driving us to school. I mean I wish something could've happened but his dickhead dad had to go and ruin that. "His dad came home and started screaming so we just left and he dropped me off at home." I explain lifting my head off the window to see her reaction.
"Oh." We never really ask or talk about Owens father. It's a touchy subject that leaves everyone in a bad mood.
"Are you sir you don't want to just stay home, Lee?" She asks looking concerned. "You literally look like your about to drop dead."
"No I should be fine. I don't want to go home anyway. My mom will just try to talk to me, which will put me in a worse mood. Let's just get to school." I turn on the radio and lay my head back down on the window.
We all meet at Amelia's locker and I look up to see Owen. He looks horrible. Maybe even worse than me. I give him a worried glance but he just shakes his head to get me to forget about it.
"Wow Lyric, you look like shit too." Parker slides up next to me by the lockers. Why does everyone have to comment on my appearance. I mean I really don't give a fuck, but really?
"I have no idea how you are such a charmer with the ladies?" I question him. He just puts his hand to his heart like I offended him and scoffs.
"No one listen to what comes out of my mouth." He smirks. I know what's coming next. "They are to distracted by all of this to even notice." He motions to his body. I leaned over and punched him in the shoulder. "Damn girl, you really know how to punch."
All I do is smile and look over to Owen. I made sure my finger was on the outside of my fist when I punched just like he taught me. He smiled that big beautiful smile of his and it made me feel like everything was going to be okay.

I sat in pre calculus with Parker right behind me annoying the everliving shit out of me. If he didn't stop I am seriously thinking about stabbing this pencil through his eye.
"Alright class we are done for the day. Behave and we won't have a problem." My bitch of a teacher said as she sat down at her desk. I turned to Parker to start talking to him. I wanted to know if Owen said anything about what happened.
"So...do you know why Owen looked like he did this morning?" I question getting right to the point.
"Lee, you know. I'm not really supposed to tell you. Our conversations stay confidential." Of course they would. Because Parker and Owen are best friends and won't tell anyone else. I roll my eyes, and turn back around.
Parker taps my shoulder and I turn around once again. "He went to visit his sister yesterday. I leave it at that." He goes back to doing his school work.
That explains it all. I remember when we were all around seven, he came to all of us telling us that his mom is having a baby and he's gonna be a big brother. I have never seen him as happy as that day. After a couple of months he just stopped talking about his sister all together. We were all so confused as to why but we didn't question it. Eventually we all figured out that his sister had died. We all did know how but it didn't matter. We just had to be there for him.
I also one night followed him as he went to the cemetery to see her. He looked so broken for a ten year old. I told Parker and Amelia and we haven't ever questioned him. Until one night he told Parker about it. And that's why Owen talks to Parker about all of this.
The bell rings and I rush out of the class and to the lunch room. Once I walk in everyone stops and looks in my direction. What the hell? What are they staring at. I look behind me but no one is there. I ignore it and continue into the lunch line. Once I get my food and sit down at my usual table I'm still very confused. Why do they keep staring and whispering about me.
"Why is everyone staring over here?" Amelia questions as she shrinks into my side. She has always been a shy girl. I pat her arm and try to reassure her.
"I honestly have no idea but I think it's because of me." I turn and see an angry Owen making his way to the table with Parker trailing behind him. He slams his tray down as he gets to the table and grabs my face to look at me.
"What the fuck are you doing?" I asked and then he let go of my face.
"I wanted to see if you were alright." He says with a normal face and then he starts to eat his food. I looked at him confusion still written in my face no doubt.
"Ok?...why?" He leaves me unanswered while he shoves his face with more food. I look to Parker who shrugs.
"Ok seriously somebody better tell me why all this is happening." I'm starting to get angry now.
"It's nothing Lee, can you just let it go?" Owen asks as he puts a hand on my thigh.
He seriously needs to stop doing that. I can't seem to focus when he's touching me or very close to me. I lose all senses and am only focusing on his hand on my thigh. I'm pretty sure that my face is bright red to. All to soon he pulls his hand back to eat some more.
I look over and Parker is sitting there smirking at me making a very sexual hand sign. I glare at him and he stops.
Before I could think to do anything else a very annoying nastily voice interrupts my thoughts. "Wow she looks so horrible. I don't think the bags under her eyes could get any bigger. Do you think it's because of her sexing up her dads supporters?" Courtney laughs as she walks by the table.
I'm so done. My fists are clenching shut and Amelia puts her hands on mine. "Let's go to the library." She pulls me up and walks me to the library. As we are walking I'm blinded my tears in my eyes. I have never cried while hearing this. I don't know what makes this time different. I'm blaming it on my lack of sleep.
Before I know what I'm doing I'm sobbing into my best friends shoulders, as she holds onto me tight.
