Lyric's POV
"Wait, really?" Amelia asked me as she went to sit on her bed. After school she and I decided to hang out at her house. Because I was suspended, she picked me up after she was done at school. I just told her about what Owen said yesterday.
"Yeah, I couldn't believe it either." I say with a smile walking aimlessly around her room. Her room was so bubbly and pink. She had a giant rose right about her bed that she had painted herself. She the real girly girl of the two of us. She was also the artist, but don't let that fool you. I can make a pretty nice stick figure. She spreads out on her bed with a thoughtful smile on her face.
"Maybe he'll start to like you, and then you will fall in love, and get married, and have nice-looking children." She says. "It's the perfect fairytale ending."
"One can only hope." I say with a sad smile.
"Girls!" We hear Amelia's mom screams from downstairs. Violet is basically like my mom too. At least I wish she was my mom. She lets me stay over all the time, cooks us food, makes me do chores around the house. It's like I'm basically part of the family, considering I don't have much of a family. It's just me and my parents, who don't even have the decency to check up on me to see if I'm still breathing. They are too worried about my dad's campaign to even take notice of their daughter.
We walk downstairs to see Violet running around in the kitchen trying to make dinner.
"Lyric, honey are you staying for dinner?" She asked me as she put whatever she was going to cook in the pan.
"As long as I'm not a bother." I say humbly. I always feel so bad coming over to their house all the time. Even though she keeps saying it's fine, I can't help but feel like I'm a bother. I mean that's what my parents say to me all the time anyway.
"You are never a bother. I just wanted to let you know that I will be having a friend over for dinner." She ducks her head down and has a slight blush on her cheeks. Violet is a beautiful woman with light blonde hair and big bright blue eyes. Her beauty obviously never fails to go unnoticed by men. Ever since her husband, Amelia's dad Robert up and left, It's been hard for both of them but I guess they are both starting to move on. Violet and Amelia look so much happier now that
"Nice Violet, getting back in the game." I tease her.
"Oh hush now." She says with a smile and blush still on her face.
"What's his name, mom?" Amelia asked as she gets up to help her mom.
"His name is Liam and he is super sweet." She said adding in all of the flavoring on what she was cooking then turned to look at me. "Well don't just stand there get your ass in here and help."
I laugh and get up off the chair and start helping her.
——————————Later ——————————
After the dinner Amelia and I went up to her room again. As violet said, Liam was nice but I couldn't help but think that they just weren't going to last.
"So what did you think about him Mia?" I ask her as she starts changing into Pj's.
"Well he is kind, but I don't like him. I don't know what it is. It just was all awkward." Her face morphs into her thinking face.
"Tell me what you really thought Mia." I say as she looks up at me confused on how I know that she's thinking more into this.
"You must have forgotten that I'm your best friend and you also have your thinking face on. Which may I remind you still makes you look constipated." I tell her trying to lighten the mood. It's seems to do somewhat of the trick when she chuckles a little.
"I don't know Lee. I just don't like the idea that she's dating again. I don't want her hurt again or me hurt again. It was really hard when my dad left. You remember. I don't think we could manage another man letting us down." She looks down again.
"I get it, but you can't keep living your life in fear that someone is going to hurt you like that. All men aren't your dad." She's always had a rough time around men because she just doesn't trust them. Robert really fucked her view on men. She thinks they all are nasty and horrible no matter how much I keep saying that she just need to find the right one. Which I keep saying is Ashton Irwin from 5 Seconds of Summer. She just won't believe me.
"Well this got depressing real fast so let's move on. Are you staying over tonight?" She asks me.
"Probably not, I'm going to go home cause I don't have clothes and I'm pretty sure my mother can't wait to yell at me again for not being home." I say as I start walking towards her bedroom door.
"Okay well maybe we can hang out again tomorrow? When I'm done with school since you know, someone had to get suspended." She asks me teasingly. I knew though that she is secretly mad for leaving her with only Parker and Steven. But she will get over it. I'll be back Friday.
"Yeah maybe, I'll have to see bye!" I scream as I run down the hall. I yell a bye to Violet and thank her for dinner as I run home in the freezing cold air.
When I got home I opened the door I could already head my parents arguing. Damn it, now I have to sneak upstairs in my room and hope they don't hear or else I'm going to get screamed at.
I start making my way to the staircase, but being the dumbass, clumsy person I am I stumble into the shelf that holds all of our key and they rattle as they fall to the floor.
"Damn it." I whisper but I already knew I got caught.
"Lyric!" My mom screams from the living room, "Is that you?" I stay quiet hoping they would just go back to fighting, but then my mom walked through the doorway. "It is you, get in her now!" She looked pissed
I walked through the doorway to the living room and saw my father sitting in there. He looked so tired. There were bags under his eyes and it looks looked is twice his age. I guess this whole campaign thing is getting to him.
"Where the hell were you Lyric?" My mom asked an frown settling on her face that makes her look ten years older.
"I was at Amelia's." I say getting straight to the point.
"I should've guessed." My mom rolls her eyes. "You need to stop going over there. They are most likely getting sick of you. Your over there all the time. I mean I would get sick of you."
"Anne—," my father starts to say before he is cut off.
"No it's ridiculous the amount of time you spend at that house. They have their own problems that they are dealing with."
"You know what mother?" I start. "You don't really have a say in that matter. You may be my mother but you will never be my mom. Not like you used to. Violet acts more like a mom then you do. You know it too. And so does dad!" I scream.
"How can you say something like that to me?" My mother says appalled.
"Easy." I start, "Just like this...fuck you!" I run up the stairs and into my bedroom like I was hoping I could just do in the beginning.
When I get into my room I'm fuming and I text Owen.
Me: When are we doing this fighting thing?
Owen: When do you want to do it?
Me: As soon as possible. I need to let off anger
Owen: Friday after school we will start
I go to bed with a smile on my face.
