Chapter 3
-Layla Perry-
Just act tough, they said, You'll be fine, they said. I'm a girl going to a body guard audition, that's totally going to turn out fine. I pushed open the doors to Atlantic Records, taking an elevator up to Dann Huff's office. As I step out of the elevator, I can see a group of HUGE guys lined against the walls, near a door. Taking a shaky breath in, I hold my head up and walk up to them, settling myself right in the middle. I crossed my arms over my chest and kept a serious face. A guy next to me gave me curious look.
"You realize this is the body guard interviews."
"Yes. I am obviously waiting for my turn." I snapped, he back off and I smirked internally. Maybe it would turn out fine.
"Uh Layla? Perry?" I pushed myself off the wall by uncurling my back and walked up to the door.
"That'd be me." the man blinked at me a fee times, but soon stepped aside to allow me in. Right away I spotted Hunter, who was probably the one making the decision. I sat in the chair next to him and Dann sat in the desk across from us.
"So... You're here for the body guard job."
"Yes."
"Why do you think you could make it...?"
"I am strong enough to hold back a few stalkers and paps."
"How would you know that?" Hunter spoke up, I raised my eyebrows and pulled a small dog tag from my neck to show.
"I've been in the military, Private Perry." of course this was a lie, the tag was fake, but I had been through some serious training with my brother and his friends.
"I see." he muttered, and Dann nodded.
"That's wonderful."
"Thank you."
"So, would you be glad to take this job?"
"Dann!! It's my decision!" Hunter scolded, Dann gave him a look.
"I have a say too."
"Well I'm saying mine, I do not want her as my bodyguard." I bit my lip a little frustrated, time to bring up my game.
"You don't want me as a guard because I'm a woman, isn't it." I said, looking down at my lap, voice on a edge.
"Of course he does not." Dann glared at Hunter who looked away.
"Don't worry. I understand. Why would I want to work for a sexist." I stood up and started to turn for the door.
"No! Hunter is not a sexist!"
"Then why is he judging me so soon!?"
"I-" Dann seemed panicked. "You know what? I think Hunter would be satisfied to have you as a body guard."
"What?!" Hunter exclaimed.
"Hunter you need to learn your lesson, Layla, you're hired." I flashed a small smile.
"Thank you so much Mr. Huff. You won't regret your decision."
"My pleasure, Layla." Hunter was glaring at Dann so hard, I'm surprised he didn't get incinerated. I left the office after Dann told me he would give me a call about when he would need me, and I walked out into the hall.
"Consider your dreams, crushed." I smiled to all of the beefy guys and walked back to the elevator like I was floating.
But the truth was, I was.
~~~~
"Mission accomplished!" I yelled as I walked into the warehouse. "I told you I could do it!" I yelled to my brother, who just smirked.
"Good job Layla."
"Yeah. I know." I almost squealed as I took my seat at the table.
"So, now that we have a personal eye, it's time to take the next step. Layla, tell us when you know the very next destination Hunter is heading too. And we will do the rest."
"You can count on me."
