I walked to my locker, like I always do. Britney's locker is right next to mine. "Hey Brit!" I say cheerfully. "Yo, Syd. You comin' to the party? It's gonna be sick." Britney is very chill and likes to hang out on the street, she's the complete opposite of Courtney, who's very uptight. "Nah I can't make it." I reply, "Your so uptight, you should really loosen up and come to the party!" Britney tries to convince me. "No Brit, I can't." I say, trying to give her a chance to redeem herself. Back home, if you talk back, or try to convince someone after they've said no, you got hit with a belt to the back. "C'mon Syd! I heard Chad was gonna be there, he's been eyeing you all week." Britney tred to convince me again. "Listen, Britney, I don't care if Harry Styles is there. I have other plans and that's final." I say in a very stern voice, flipping my golden hair over my shoulder to add effect, like Tracy does."Alright, fine." Britney mumbles, knowing I've won. If only she knew that if I did go to the party, I would be beat up by Tom.

I check my schedule to see what I have first period. Oh, man, I have double math. I've got a test  to do this double I think, I really hate math, the test is on advanced fractions. Brit and I walk together to math class.

"Alright kids, today we have a test on fractions..." Mrs. Madoma starts talking. "Hey, wanna watch a movie on Sunday?" Chad asks. Chads parents own a big company that makes a lot of money, so he's known as the rich kid. I reall don't like him, he's stuck up and snobby and just not a very nice guy. "Sorry Chad, I just don't like you like that." I reply in an apologetic tone. "B*tch." He mutters under his breath. I whip my head around, making sure Britney noticed, "I'm sorry, what did you just call me?" I say with a death glare towards, him, "Meet me in the parking lot at six tonight and I'll tell you to your face." He challenges. There's something about me that Chad doesn't know, and it's that I can hold my own. "Sure, why not? And let's make it nine." Nine is when Tom goes out gambling and Tracy is going to her friends house. I call them by their first name because I don't consider them my parents even though, legally they are.

Chad nods at me, confirming he will be there. The bell goes to signify recess is starting.
