Sure enough, the carriage arrived promptly at 8 am the next morning. With a brisk goodbye to my mother, I left my old life as a baker behind and rode my way into the uncertain future ahead of me.

I was in a daze until the carriage suddenly came to a halt, sending a jolt up my spine. I was reminded of the events from the night before, though I tried my best to brush them off; after all, I was safe at the castle, right?

A servant came and took all of my belongings out of the carriage, while another helped me to the ground. I marveled at the massive building in front of me, amazed at how it would become my home for the time being. I was ushered inside, admiring the beautiful design and decoration of the interior.

I was then escorted to my room, which was simply decorated yet had a sense of class my old bedroom lacked. A maid with pretty green eyes then entered, claiming to be my new "personal maid", helping me change into the (f/c) gown that she claimed the princes selected for me. I marveled at my reflection in the mirror for a brief moment before I was then led to the throne room.

Once inside, there were dozens of other girls dressed just as expensively as I was, waiting for something. I wasn't quite sure just what, but I did know that I felt rather lame and inexpensive compared to them. Before I had much time to dwell on it, however, I heard the sound of the imperial trumpet, causing me to freeze up in panic.

After a few moments, the two princes paraded down the narrow red carpet running along the center of the room, causing the other girls to gasp in awe and amazement. I could barely see anything, having to jump a few times to catch as much as a glimpse of the princes, but I was astounded to have finally seen such amazing individuals in person.

"Attention, order in the throne room!" a voice boomed, causing everyone to fall dead silent. I felt small compared to the other girls, sizing them up subconsciously. They all seemed so... elegant. Something I so desperately lacked.

"Welcome to the very first double spouse search!" A black haired male appeared in front of the two thrones, holding a scroll in his hand. "You have all been selected by princes Komaeda and Hinata as potential spouses and heirs to the throne! There are a few ground rules we must lay out, but first, how about you all take turns meeting the princes?"

The girls around me stirred in excitement, before falling silent once again by the sound of a hush. "When your name is called, please step up to the thrones and greet our princes. First up, Etsuko Oshiro, seamstress."

A girl with long blonde hair and pale blue eyes stepped up to the thrones, curtsying and greeting the two princes. She then dissolved back into the crowd, the black haired boy proceeding to call off name after name. After a while, I found myself growing nervous. Was I even meant to be here? Surely the letter had to be a mistake, right?

"Chiyoe Kobayashi, Farmer." A freckled girl with cropped brown hair trips and falls on her journey to the thrones, causing the other girls to snicker. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor thing, placing a hand over my chest apprehensively.

After a while, my name was finally called. "And finally, last but not least, (Y/n) (L/n), baker from Sunflower Bakery."

Last?! Why was I last?! I stumbled towards the throne, feeling the immense pressure of hundreds of eyes on me. I looked towards the two princes, shocked to finally have seen them in person.

Perhaps it was just me, but they both seemed strangely familiar. It was almost as if I had met them before.

Nevertheless, I curtsied to them, though something out of the ordinary happened. Prince Komaeda had stood up from the throne, approaching me and taking me by the hand. I felt my face grow hot as he knelt down in front of me, planting a kiss on the back of my hand. "It is a pleasure to meet you in person, Lady (Y/N)."

I could hear voices stir up behind me, causing my face to flush crimson red. Why did he decide to do this now, in front of everyone? Why only to me? "P-pleasure to meet you too," I stammered, trying my best to maintain my composure.

As Prince Komaeda returned to his seat, I noticed a small, devious smirk on his lips. Strangely, his expression appeared to be almost familiar.

Meanwhile, Prince Hinata stood up and bowed to me, seemingly not wanting to be outdone by his adopted brother. "Welcome to our castle, (Y/n). We are delighted to have you here."

"T-thank you both, your majesties,"was all I could force out as I curtsied to the males in front of me. I then scurried off into the crowd, trying to hide my embarrassment as much as possible.

The black haired male then laid out all of the terms of stay: We essentially served at the whim of the two princes, and were required to obey their every command. There were many things that were strictly prohibited, such as leaving the castle before dismissal, along with having relations with anyone other than the two princes. It seemed easy enough to me, being someone who typically obeyed orders so as to not be a disruption.

I watched the princes whisper to each other for a moment before conferring with the black haired male in front of them. A pained expression appeared on his face for a brief moment before he cleared his throat in preparation to speak.

"Oh, And before you are dismissed, may we please call Ladies Haruka, Arisa, Momoko, Mirai, and Tanya up?"

A few girls stumbled forwards, confused expressions on their face.

"You have been dismissed from the search. Thank you for your participation, but the princes have decided to let you go. Please pack your things and return to your respective homes."

What?! That soon?! I wanted to scream, noticing the other girl's horrified reactions. How did they decide so quickly?

Perhaps... This was more serious that I had imagined.
