Hyu would sometimes crawl deeper into the forest, escaping from everything in his life at that moment. Even if he knew that the forest was alien, it still reminded him of familiar things from his innocent childhood. Scents of sickly sweet fruits and joyous laughter filled his supposedly defective mind until he felt like he was reliving those truly special days. His parents would make the best meals for him and his older brother, shielding them from the prejudice outside. He remembers discovering his love for music. His drive for perfection. He remembers how he wished he was another color, and his father telling him green was as beautiful as his heart was. However, he feels like a completely different person now. He has wielded weapons, stolen, lied, cheated; and for what? His freedom? His life? Was this all even worth his time...?
A cry for his name comes from over the hills. She stands there. The human. The first one who understood. Corette. She strolls down, legs and all, and sits with him, genuinely happy to see him.
In the moment, that's all Hyu could ask for. He presses his soft cheek against her tiny head, and sighs in gratitude. (Corette, of course, is utterly confused) Hyu trusts that: if she believes in him, he must be the same innocent boy he was all those years ago, heart of gold and all.
