Christmas break started off rough. Cheshire ignored everyone and kept disappearing to somewhere where no one would look.
Cheshire disappeared to the kitchens where she would sit for hours eating cookies the House Elves made her and read.
Everyone tried to find her but she could turn invisible so that didn't really work.
Dumbledore even tried to find her but she could even hide from him.
Finally after a week Severus had enough.
While everyone was asleep he went to the kitchens.
He knew she had been hiding there but every time he looked Cheshire transported herself somewhere else.
When he walked into the kitchen he saw a single light on and a figure hunched over a table in a corner.
He slowly walked over and found the figure reading while eating a cookie.
The smallest laugh escaped his mouth and Cheshire jumped.
She hadn't expected anyone to come into the kitchen at that time of night.
"Sorry to have startled you." Snape said.
"It's alright." Cheshire replies softly.
It was then Snape realized that she wasn't smiling.
"What's wrong?" He asked as he sat across from her.
"Nothing." She replied.
"No something is wrong." Snape said.
It was then the two started having an actual conversation. They ate cookies and talked until the sun started to rise.
"Merry Christmas Cheshire."
"Merry Christmas Severus"
Then the two separated to their destinations. For it was Christmas and Cheshire wished to spend it with her friends... even though she hadn't been a good friend to them.
