(Kim Ji-Hoon as Frankie Martin)

Wyatt's POV

I knew my words had struck him hard, like a punch to the face.

Which is what I wanted to do, but I couldn't and I know I wouldn't, no matter how much he has hurt me.

But that was a story for another time. Sorry.

I stormed away from him and Callie without looking back. I felt sort of bad but not enough to apologize or care. I had a reputation to uphold, after all.

I stormed the hallways towards my locker to retrieve my books and stuff and meet up with the crew. Everyone knew who we were. We were called The Faders. Because well...people who tend to get on our bad side tend to...fade. Not that I've ever been directly involved in that part.

Anyway, I reached my locker, putting in my combination and retrieving my books for class, stuffing them in my bag and slammed my locker shut.

I pulled my iPhone XS Max out of my pocket and check the time. 8:20am the time read. I had 10 mins before class.

I ducked down a side hallway and slipped out a side entrance to meet the rest of the group out back behind the school.

Once I got there they were chattering among themselves and passing around a blunt before school even started. What the fuck? It's the first day of school?

Wait...since when did I care when the time, day or occasion was? I shook my thoughts aside and approached them.

"Sup, fellas," I greeted.

"Aye, Wyatt," many of them greeted.

"Hey, Wyatt. What took you so long? Getting dirty with your man's?" Frankie, the assistant leader of the Faders, teased. The rest of the group laughed.

I laughed, not quite amused, but also as to not draw attention to myself. "Ppft, what man's? I'm not fucking gay," I said dismissively. "Plus, you guys are really the only guy friends I've got to be honest," I added.

They passed the blunt to me and I took it without hesitation and put it to my lips, taking a long drag.

"So what was that bullshit you pulled this morning when we were horsing around with that bitch--"

"Her name's Callie," I said passing blunt to my left.

"Since when do you care?" Frankie pushed. "Anyway, you told us to leave when that lil dude rolled up on us, which I found interesting cause we do everything together. All of us. We're brothers, Wy," Frankie said.

I didn't say anything but I gripped my fist and tensed up, breathing heavily. Thankfully no one noticed.

"Drop it, F," I said, my tone acerbic and serious as I stared at Frankie. We made eye contact and he held up his hands in defeat. "Fine," he said.

I checked my phone for the time. 8:25.

"Shit," I hissed. "Guys, I gotta get to class," I said. "I'll catch up with you guys later."

They all just nodded and continued passing around the blunt as I walked back inside the school.

I really didn't know why I was with these guys sometimes. But I couldn't just abandon them now. Right?

***
My first class of the day was Civics and Economics. I looked at my schedule. Room 1208. Mrs. Hinckley. I heard she was a super cool teacher.

I made it to class the moment the bell rang. When I walked into class, everyone stared at me. I just looked down and walked to the seat in the second to last row from the window.
