CHAPTER 2:
"Let me get this straight," I began the second I saw Dante wednesday morning. He was waiting outside my house like every other morning, eyes still heavy and hair messy from sleep. "You ditched taco tuesday to get laid?"
"Huh?" He frowned, following me as I slammed my front gate and took off walking down the block.
"My sister saw some picture of you and some twink out last night." I clarified. "He was cute, but come on dude. Taco tuesday is sacred."
"I didn't miss taco tuesday to get laid Seb."
"I don't care if you did, but get laid on your own time. Taco tuesday is family time. My mom didn't like you not jumping out of the pantry to scare her." I told him.
"Seb I didn't get laid last night."
"Well then why were you out with Mr. bedroom eyes?"
"It was a date Seb."
I stopped walking, turning around to look at Dante. "A what?"
He sighed. "A date."
I looked at him, cocking my head to the side. The next second I was doubled over in laughter. "You're kidding me." I laughed, holding my stomach as it ached from my laughter. I looked up at him from my bent over position, taking in his serious face. Tears had formed in my eyes as I finally straightened up. "You aren't serious?" I wiped the tears from the corner of my eyes, trying to calm my chuckles. "You're serious?"
"Don't be a dick." Dante grumbled, punching me in the shoulder.
"I'm sorry." I said sincerely, trying not to laugh. "I mean it. No more laughing."
"Thank you." He sighed and we walked on for a few more blocks in silence.
"So..." I drawled, breaking the silence.
"So?" He raised an eyebrow at me.
"So next time you wine and dine some random dude with fuck me eyes, try to see if he has a friend for me."
Dante knocked my shoulder with his, both of us trying not to laugh now. "You're a pig. All you think about is sex."
"Well isn't the pot calling the kettle black." I countered. "Like you're any better."
"I'm trying to be."
I almost stumbled in my steps, trying to pass it off as a purposeful hop. "Why?" I frowned. For as long as I could remember, sex had been what drove Dante and I. We thrived on carnal pleasures and were strong advocates for never denying ourselves.
"I like this guy." Dante said quietly, almost so quietly I hadn't heard it.
"You what?" I scoffed. "You're fucking with me."
"See this is why I didn't tell you anything." He groaned. "I knew you would react like this."
"React like what? Like confused? Like shocked?" I questioned. "And what do you mean you didn't tell me anything? How long have you 'liked this guy'?" I put air quotes around his words, refusing to acknowledge them as fact. Dante and I didn't do feelings for people. We never have.
"Just a few weeks." He sighed, trying to sound nonchalant about it. "It's only been a few months alright? It's new. I didn't say anything because I know how you feel about monogamy."
"Monogamy?" I gasped. "Dude monogamy's a trap."
"So you say." He ruffled my hair, trying to placate me. "Just be cool about it alright?"
I bit my lip, continuing our walk in more silence. We rounded the corner of our university, immediately catching the attention of all girls in a twenty foot radius. They smiled at us, calling out occasionally for one of us to acknowledge them. "I'm cool." i finally stated, looking up at my best friend. He gave me a cautious look. "I mean it. I'm cool."
