I was doing my usual shift and I saw a girl badly beat up rolling on the gurney.

"What happened?"

"Bad motorcycle accident. She was trying to avoid the doe and hit a tree. She's unconscious, but breathing." Nurse Ashely responds as they rolled her inside the examination room.

Once I got a good look at her almost beat up face and hair covered with grass, leaves, and sticks...

Maeve?! I thought in shock.

"Get Luc–"

"I'm already on it," Lucas responds as he comes in.

"Let's save a life, people."

After examination, we rushed her into a room with her parents.

"Is she okay, nurse?"

"Just some gashes and a broken rib, arm, and leg. She is under a coma and it's all on her to wake up."

And I hope it's soon.. it's been so long.. I thought.

"Uh... One more thing and one odd request." I asked awkwardly.

"Yes, doctor?"

"Can I...speak to her alone...?"

"Who are you?"

"Let's just say I'm an old friend from high school and treated her like any girl should be treated," I responded.

"Very well, I'll give you two minutes but I don't want ANY funny business with my daughter, she already had a boyfriend enough already." Her dad said sternly as her mom didn't say a word.

"It's nice to see you again... Hayes." She finally said before she left.

Boyfriend? Is she dating that asshole again..? Or did she found someone else?

"Maeve, I know you're in a coma... but it's me, Hayes... Hayes McColey. Your... friend.. from high school." I said as she was still in the almost lifeless state, but her chest was slowly rising and falling and her heart beat was slow.

"I didn't think I would see you again... and like this..."
I continued as I shed some tears.

Stay strong, McColey. Even though you almost cried in front of her when you helped her that one night.

"So... I just wanna say... I miss you and hope we can reconnect..." I said as I was almost hesitant to kiss her on the forehead.

Since her boyfriend either Aaron who deserves to be in jail or her mystery boyfriend would come in and kill me.

"Sir," I said as I saw my boss come on by.

"Yes?"

"I know this is too much for me to ask, but only this once. Can I be the head nurse for Maeve Neilson in this room?" I asked pleadingly as he looked at Maeve from afar, then at me.
