A New Opportunity

School the next day was... Well... Interesting. I came to school earlier than usual. So I sat at our classroom, reviewing my notes for our Math class. Just so you know, I'm not that good, so I tend to review my notes when I have the time. Everything was going good. It was quiet, not much people around, and the fresh, early morning breeze blew against my face. Not to mention I was alone. Well... Almost Alone.

I guess I was too focused reviewing my notes to hear Ms. Taylor call me. She tapped me on my left shoulder. "Sorry to bother you, Chloe! But I'd like to talk to you after the assembly today." Uh oh. Had I done something wrong? Had my grades dropped so drastically over the past few weeks? "Oh. Okay. Sure." Was all I managed to say. Like FRICK. I was so worried (and scared) about what she wanted to talk about.

My mind was filled up with possible "causes" about why our adviser had wanted to talk to me in private about. Hopefully nothing too bad. Time went by very slow. One by one, my classmates started arriving and time couldn't get any slower. As the assembly started to end, I was a nervous wreck!

"You wanted to see me, Ms. Taylor?" I asked as I neared her desk at the back of the classroom. My heart was beating so fast as I neared her desk at the back of the classroom. But thankfully, it wasn't anything bad. Instead, she said "Chloe, I know how much you love photography, so I decided to enter you in the school's photography contest. It will be the perfect way to start your journey as a photograher." I for one, couldn't believe what I was hearing. Was this... for real? I didn't even need to be asked if this was okay. "I'll do it!" I said, excitedly. "Thank you." I gushed, because I was so happy. Like.... "THROUGH THE ROOF  happy.

"What's with the big happy smile?" My best friend, Sienna Riverwood said, as I took my seat next to her. We were seated in the front row, in the middle, right in front of the blackboard. "I'm in a photography contest!" I said, a big smile plastered on my face. As I gushed about the photography contest, and how the winner of the contest gets to go camping, where a lot of photo ops can be come across. There, the winner can learn all about photograhy, so why not give it a go? I mean, its a very great opportunity for me to start taking those professional photos.

As I was gushing all about the contest, I could see the jealousy in Sienna's eyes. I didn't think she would be jealous about it. I mean... she never even liked photography. And she was my best friend. Apart from being my ONLY friend. I stopped talking about it, realizing that Sienna doesn't want to talk about it. Or hear more about photography.

Awkward silence rose in the spacd between the two of us. At that point, I was feeling anxious for class to begin. I had just made things awkward between the two of us. But unexpectedly, it didn't last long. Sienna took a deep breath, looked me in the eye, and said "In that case, do you wanna collab? As in... team up for the contest?"
