Prologue
"You're exaggerating," I said. I'm with my best friend on the roof of his room as we wait for his last minutes of being a teenager to end and the first seconds of being an adult to begin.
"I'm serious, Jane," his voice cracked a bit." We get our acceptance letters next week and what if we don't end up going to the same college? You'll end up being a lawyer while I end up a bum."
"Have you forgotten you'll be going on tour? A world tour nonetheless."
"Yeah, but it's not the same without my best friend..." He sighed.
There was a moment of silence before he broke it.
"Promise me we will always be best friends."
I snapped my head to him and gave him a look as if you say 'you're joking right?'.
His turned his head so he was meeting my eye. His eyes seemed to do the begging for him.
"I promise, Harry."
"No, that's not good enough." He scrunched his eyebrows.
"What? What else do I have to do besides give you my word?"
He contemplated for a minute before standing up and climbed down the square opening through the roof of his room using the ladder. I sat up and yelled,"Where are you going?"
"Stay there!" He yelled back to me.
I checked my phone to see there was two minutes left before Harry is eighteen.
Within two blinks, Harry was climbing back up, paper between this pink lips and a pen behind his ear.
He rushed back to me and sat to be face to face.
"Sign this," he gave me the paper and pen.
I read the printed words that said "I, Harry Styles and Jane Rudd, will hereby be there for each other as best friends until the day we die." Harry's signature was right on the printed line.
"What's this?" I asked shaking my head in confusion.
"This is our friendship contract. I want you to sign it and from here on out we will add more guidelines, restriction, excreta to follow as our friendship grows." He explained." Sign it before anything changes."
"Nothing is go-"
"Just sign it," he pleaded.
I glanced at my phone again and the countdown showed six seconds until his birthday.
I hastily scribbled my signature and the alarm signaling Harry's birthday rang.
"Happy birthday, Haz." I smiled handing him the contract and pen.
"It is now," he engulfed me in a bone crushing hug."But don't think this gets you out of giving me a present."
[A/N: Yes a new story! Well this is just a plot line I've been working on for awhile. I will updating somewhat often to get the story going but I will admit that updates will get somewhat slower because of school. I don't know how I came up with it but I just did...so I guess we could get started with the first chapter yeah?]
