As the Hooded Duelist finished packing her bag, she thought about Yugi and his puzzle. She felt that click in her mind the moment she saw Yugi's puzzle, she believed that if she stayed with him for a while, the click in her heart will come.
But she also wanted to make friends with him and hopefully his friends too. Yugi seemed like a very kind and gentle soul, who cared for his friends and his cards too.
And his friends, for that blonde, Joey, to jump into the ocean to retrieve Exodia for him and those two, Tea and Tristan, to sneak onto the ship just to cheer for him. They must be the greatest friends anyone could have.
But there was one problem: She was extremely shy around new people.
Ever since she could remember, she's been shy, so much in fact that she tends to stutter when she talks and have trouble looking people in the eye. It got to a point that it effected her dueling.
When she first started dueling, her only opponents were her parents and the person she saw as a sister. During those duels, she felt excited and confident. But when she tried to duel someone she wasn't familiar with, she became a nervous wreck. Her palms became sweaty, she would look anywhere but at her opponent and she couldn't think straight. Needless to say, it cost her the duel.
It's why she wears her cloak, as long as her opponent didn't see her face, she felt fine.
Does she want to meet new people and have friends? Does she want to able to duel without her cloak? Of course, but her shy nature most of the time prevents that.
This was why she entered the tournament. She hoped that it will be her chance to make friends duel without her cloak and to get over her shyness.
She sighed as she looked at the three cards in her hands.
This is my first step, giving him these cards!
She nodded, putting the cards away and strapped her bag onto her back.
Suddenly the intercom went on.
Attention, all duelists! Please disembark in a orderly fashion.
The Hooded Duelist exits her room and walks towards the way to the shore. On her way, she could hear the other duelist whispering.
"Hey, is that who I think it is?"
"The Hooded Duelist is here?!"
"This is my chance to duel her."
"If I win against her, I'll be a legend."
"I wonder why she hides under that hood."
This was normal for her. People whispering about her, whether it was about wanting to duel her or unmask her. It doesn't bother her as much as it did in the beginning but still she is cautious about the people around her. You Never know when one of them might actually go through with their plan to unhood her.
As she stepped onto the platform, she heard a familiar voice failing to whisper.
"Hey! It's the Hooded Duelist! Man, she looks shorter in person." Joey said
She then heard him being whacked on the head "You know she can probably hear you, Jerk!"
She wasn't ready to see them so soon, so she pulled her hood to cover more of her face and quickly got off the boat. She could hear Yugi calling out to her but she pretended not to hear him and moved forward.
She stopped when one of the guards stood in front of the crowd "Welcome Duelists!"
He gestured to the long stairwell leading to the castle "Please follow the stairs to meet your host."
