you have chosen to go to jaehyun

you get up to walk towards jaehyun. you pat his back and lead him to the kitchen to dry his tears.

the male is still crying hard, rambling about how he had failed to save his members. you just nod and pat his back as you gather tissues, unsure of what to say.

jaehyun turns to you and slowly begins to dry his eyes.

jaehyun: ❝i t-tried, i really did. i did my best to save them but there w-were too many. i wanted to save them so bad.❞

jaehyun is a mess as he sobbed out his guilt. he clings tightly onto the pile of tissue paper on his hands and tightens his pursed lips.

jaehyun: ❝i did my best.❞

his voice was barely a whisper.

you nod and pat on his back. you slowly bring him out to the living room, smiling in relief that everyone had left already.

you let him sit on the couch.

yuta: ❝talk to me, what happened?❞

jaehyun nods and sucks in a breath first before he starts his explanation.

jaehyun: ❝we were tracking the warehouse nearby to see if there was any food we could find. the house was a little worn down already and the windows were broken.

well, to be honest, i knew jungwoo looked a little afraid to enter but me and lucas insisted in going in so we left him outside at the shelter.

we were inside for a few minutes before he heard a- a scream. jungwoo's. ❞

you notice jaehyun pausing for a moment as he was recalling the scene in his memories, his expression pained and filled with guilt.

you pat his back reassuringly.

yuta: ❝it's alright.❞

he nods.

jaehyun: ❝we rushed out and saw h-him getting dragged and clawed at. he screamed so badly and lucas rushed forward to help. I went with him but he pushed me back. he told me to go back and call for help.

b-but i couldn't! i was afraid. so freaking afraid that they would just die before i reached back so i tried to help.

i saw lucas turn around as he tried to carry jungwoo. he yelled at me to go away but he got knocked down.

then the ceiling, it started to crack. then i couldn't see them. the ceiling crashed down and more of the zombies came flying down since they were on the roof.

i had to run. i just couldn't. even if i could've found them, they would be been bitten. i-i'm so sorry.❞

his voice cracks as he finishes his sentence. he wipes a stray tear from his cheek and breathes heavily.

you pat his back and mutter soft comforting words for him.

it was only then when he grabs your hand rather tightly, looking right into your eyes.

jaehyun: ❝do you blame me?❞

you stare at him, taking in his words. you know. it was happening.

you were all going to break apart, only for now, hopefully.
