for the past three months, Noah's text has been ringing in my head. in the car with Seth, in class when Noah's right beside me, at Sunday brunch, in my bed at night; it's such a constant reminder.
we're meant to be, baby
things with Seth are great too. he's such a romantic, he gets along with my family, and he always considers my feelings. and he doesn't like the idea of spending a whole bunch of money on dates; he does these cute creative ones.
Noah thinks he's gay.
"if he was gay he'd be taking a guy on these dates." I argued.
"no guy does this stuff."
"actually, if you paid attention to anything a girl wants, this is everything. this is what girls like."
he scoffed. "what's that supposed to mean?"
"it means not every girl wants to spend her Friday night at your football game and then Saturday watching the tapes and then Sunday talking about how awesome it was and what you did wrong."
he knit his eyebrows together. "interesting."
"Noah, you're just not very romantic. girls like it when guys do stuff they wanna do too."
"does that mean I have to sit through chick flicks?" he whined. I rolled my eyes.
"sometimes, yeah. get over yourself."
"so to get you back I have to think like you?" Noah pondered out loud. I finished putting my pearl earrings in.
"Noah, I —" there was a beeping outside.
"— gotta go. we're going to a wedding for his cousin." I placed a light peck on his cheek, barely touching. "love you, text you later."
"love you too." he called. I could tell how much it always bothered him.
if I'm gonna be honest with you, Seth was a little smothering. I really like him, of course, but I didn't want to spend every spare second with him. to tell you the truth, Noah and I's quality time has been cut in half since we started dating.
it just rubs me the wrong way. like if Seth knows I'm swimming at the pool with Noah and Lee and Elle, suddenly he wants to take me out to dinner.
or when I'm at the football games when Noah asks me to come and support him with the Flynns, Seth wants his number on my face. but he still acts friendly to Noah, and respects our friendship. at least I think.
I got in the car, surprised by a kiss from him. he doesn't really catch me off guard like that. "how was Noah's?"
"...uh, it was fine. as usual." he doesn't ask me that.
"ready?" he asked.
I nodded.
Noah🥰
