The Baseball Camp is near and everybody's talking about it. I'm pumped as hell. I've been waiting for this for an entire year! Training became stricter for us. A minute late and you have to do 50 push ups which sucks.
"Hey, Scott," I heard Rixon call out for me. I simply looked at him and raised my eyebrow.
"Can you give me a lift later? My tires got flat," he responded with a smug look on his face.
I answer him as I closed my locker, "Sure, man. Training ends at 6pm, right?"
"Yeah and we have our Lit Essay due tomorrow! It's my first fucking class," he whines.
"Well, good luck about that, Rix. We better get going before we get late," I said as I pat his back and held to my bag. We walked to the field and thanked the heavens because Coach Arnolds isn't there yet. Our team mates are there trying to change their shirts. Honestly, some of them only change just because they know that the cheerleaders are practicing at the bleachers. In short, they just want to show off.
I looked around the bleachers to check out some cheerleaders but I found something much better. I mean, change that 'something' to 'someone'.
Summers.
She was wearing ripped jeans, light blue blouse that makes her eyes shine brighter and a pair of sneakers. She had earphones on and she was tapping away on her phone.
Damn, I remember that day in the park which was like, a week ago. I was so close to finding out her name but Jack had to be there. When I was near them, I tried sneaking away. Luckily, they were too busy to notice that I was there in the first place. Whenever I see her, my heart beats faster. I have no idea why it does that, I mean, I've never talked to her since that incident in the cab.
"Wow, I never thought those kind of girls are your type, huh," Rixon murmured beside me and ruffled my hair, looking at what, more like who, I was looking at.
"W-what?" I looked away from Summers and gave Rix a playful punch.
"Hah! You stuttered! I never thought you'd like April though. I mean, yeah, she's hot. She's got the curves and all but she's someone else's girl, man," he says as he walks to the field. I finally know her name! Its April!
April Summers, I dont know how or why but you got my attention without you even trying.
"Yeah, she is hot. She's with Jack right? Poor Summers, stuck with the player," I answered and shook my head. Why am I not updated? I have no idea why I do not know who Jack is dating and that is disappointing. He is pretty popular in school for breaking hearts but apparently he found 'the one' who I'm guessing is Summers.
"Summers? Why do you call her by her last name? Its weird," Rix laughed and goes beside teammates, I slowly followed behind him and just shook my head. I don't think I'll ever tell him how I met her because, now that I think about it, it was a pretty weird way to meet someone.
I looked at her once more before giving my full attention to the team. After a few seconds, we heard Coach's whistle and began running towards him. "Attention! Two months from now, we're going to attend the Baseball Camp. We're going to play against the best baseball teams in the area. I do not want to go second nor third, we are staying in the top no matter what. Understood?"
We all answer, "Yes, Coach," then start jogging around the field. I maintain my speed, jogging infront of everyone while Rix is beside me. He's faster but I usually try to keep up with him. After an hour and a half of jogging, we had to do catch and throws.
Three hours later, I found myself walking out of the locker room, heading towards Summers. I have no idea why she was still here. I sat next to her then asked, "Hey Summers. It's half past six. Why are you still here?"
She raises her eyebrow, "Are you telling me to leave?"
I start to panic, "No! I didn't mean it like that! I was just wond-"
She suddenly laughs. I ask, "What's funny?"
"Your face is priceless," she catches her breath. "Anyways, I'm just waiting for Jack to finish his training. He's giving me a ride home tonight."
"Why won't you wait for him inside?"
"You really do want me to leave, don't you?" she jokes. "I just like fresh air."
"So do you-"
Rix interrupts and tells me to hurry up. He's been waiting by the car for about ten minutes.
"Sorry, I gotta go now. Rix gets a little cranky when he's tired," I chuckle.
"Alright. See you around," she smiles.
I turn and walk towards my car where Rix was. "I'm hungry. Can you please flirt with her some other time?"
"I wasn't flirting."
"Sure, you can say that," he smirks.
I glare at him, "Get in. Were going to Joe's Pizza Parlor."
