"Good morning dad, where's mom?"

I look at my dad who is currently watching 'Men In Black' with Nikki who ignored me.

"Morning," he replies as he points towards the kitchen. I felt quite dizzy but I knew that the beers I drank weren't too much to make me feel sick. I know I said I hated my father for cheating and that's what destroyed our family, but the guy I just called 'dad' isn't him.

When I was 11, my mom caught my father cheating on her with his slut secretary. My mom was planning to surprise him in the hospital, the place where he worked, for their anniversary, but then that happened. It sucked growing up without a father, but it didn't hurt too much when we moved away from him because we were never really close.

My mom moved on, quicker than I thought, and found a better and loyal guy who I call dad now. Nikki is their daughter, so yes, she is actually my step-sister. Dad aka. Bryce is my step-dad and as for my biological father, Jim, well we've not contacted him ever since we last saw him 6 years ago.

I walked into the kitchen seeing mom cooking some bacon and pancakes as it's odor fills the room. They smell so good, I bet it tastes delicious. She greets me a good morning which I cheerfully returned as I took a seat.

She suddenly asks, "How's the girl?"

"Oh yeah, forgot about her for a second. She's still asleep," I reply.

She nods as she continues to cook. I told my mom that I'd go back to my room as I got some water and medicine that would help her in her hangover because she drank way more than I did.

Once I arrived in my room, I noticed that the bed was fixed neatly. The blanket Summers used was folded and placed ontop of the pillow. After a few seconds, I spot her on the floor balled up.

"Hey," I tell her as I hand her the glass of water and medicine.

"Please leave me alone," she sniffs as she takes the stuff. "I look like shit and I don't feel well."

"Alright, when you're feeling better, come down and eat some breakfast," I say. I placed my hand on her shoulder and squeezed it lightly as I whispered, "don't worry, you'll be alright."

With that, I left my room and gave her some space. When I arrived the dining room, everybody was preparing to eat. The bacon and pancakes look so delicious, I couldn't wait.

"Hurry up, I'm starving," dad tells me.

I chuckle, "okay, okay."

"Could I be absent," Nikki randomly asked.

"Yeah, why not," mom smiles. "As long as you continue to do well in school."

"Yay! I want to spend some time with you and dad," she grins.

I pout jokingly, "What about me?"

They suddenly became quiet as they looked at each other.

"Meanies," I tell them.

All of them laugh, telling me that I'd have to improve my grades if I wanted a day off. We ate for about an hour, enjoying each other's company. When we finished, I remembered that I still had to go to school. I missed two periods but I guess I could catch up.

I walked back to my room, hoping to see April looking fine already.

When I arrived, I didn't find her anywhere in my room. I noticed a piece of paper on my bed.

'Scott,

Thank you for what you did last night, sorry for taking up your time.

I hope I could repay you some day.
