[Song of the Chapter: I'm Fine by VRomance]
----------------------------------
I ran away with Jinyoungie today. We went to the forest and we stayed there overnight. He cuddled with the bear I gave him all night while I was staring at the sky.
I knew that I was different from my family, that I was adopted, but I never thought it would come back to haunt me.
They got into the first fight with me in a while, when I brought Jinyoungie home.
I don't know what their deal is but I hope that it gets better.
Age: 15
To lose a family member is extremely difficult. While those that loved him felt pain from finding out that he was dead, it was so much more heart-wrenching to the parents.
The constant 'what ifs' banged around their heads and it was more than likely that they would get into the fights of blaming each other.
Why would they happily declare that their son is dead?
What could we have done differently? What would've stopped this from happening?
Jackson's parents had adopted Jackson when he was a baby because a close friend of theirs was not prepared to properly take care of him with the situation she was in. It was fine, a nice soft transition for the family, at the beginning.
Until Jackson turned eight, his parents would get into fights on whose parenting options were better than the one that they were currently using.
At eight was when Jackson grew a confident voice of his own and stopped hiding. He yelled at them, telling them that they just needed to be happy. There was no reason that they should be fighting.
When the two got word of what had happened in Hong Kong, it was something that ripped both of their hearts out. They couldn't believe it.
Emotionally ripped apart, the two really just stopped talking to each other for a month and a half. They couldn't face each other, knowing that it was one of their faults but they weren't sure whose it was.
They didn't talk to Jackson's friends, they forbid him from coming into the house and eventually on the property. It was a way that they wanted to preserve the memories that had been in the house originally.
The cheering, the parties, the sleepovers where the parents wouldn't be able to sleep because the boys were too loud. The smiles, the happiness.
They didn't want that replaced with the solemn, long, regretful faces that were always present when the boys came to the front door.
But now, with an hour-long phone call from the Hong Kong Private Hospital's psychologist, Xian Hai, the rollercoaster that they seemed to be incapable of getting off was taking a sharp 180.
They didn't think that they would be going to the airport so soon after hearing what had happened with Jinyoung.
What surprised them even further was to see three of Jackson's friends working a cafe right where the flight was. Jinyoung was there.
He seemed to be the only one that hadn't tried to come to the Wang household and considering his relationship with Jackson, it hadn't surprised the parents. If it was hard for him, the grief that Jinyoung must have had would have been painful.
But instead, he looked like he didn't have a care in the world.
They ate at the cafe and when they heard over the intercom that Jackson's flight had landed and was emptying, they went to the gate and silently glanced back at the cafe to see if his friends were still there.
They didn't know Jackson wasn't dead.
"Mr. and Mrs. Wang!"
The two looked back to the gate to see a most beautiful sight: their son walking with a child-like innocence towards them. The person that had called them was incredibly handsome, with black hair and sharp features that made him look rather like a model. But Jackson was no sore eye to look at either.
Together, the two of them looked like young, handsome models that had just gotten off a plane in style.
But to the parents, Jackson was the only thing that mattered in the world.
They hurried over to him and embraced him tightly, the young male wrapping them in a hug equally tightly.
Doctor Xian had told them that Jackson had lost his entire memory and was relying on a journal from when he was a kid to inform him about what he was like. They didn't know that he was going to remember so much.
"Mum," he whimpered, feeling his heart ache at the thought of actually being with his parents. He couldn't count the number of nights where he was scared of everything and wanted someone there to guide him.
Thankfully, the doctor had been there for him as a sort of substitute, but no one could replace the real thing. The feeling of being in familiar arms made memories return that Jackson thought he had lost.
"We missed you, so much," his parents were crying and the father let go, rubbing Jackson's hair before moving to talk to Doctor Xian.
Jackson and his mom needed to bond again.
"Have you...does he know about Jinyoung?" the father asked Doctor Xian.
The doctor silently shook his head. "He knows Jinyoung was his best friend but if it went as far as you said it did, there's a lot that he still has to learn."

Jaebum was surprised to get a text message from Jackson's parents later that week when he was hanging out with his friends. He paused the conversation to bring this up.
Mrs. Wang:
Jaebum, we were wondering if you
and your friends had time on your
hands today to come to our home today. He couldn't believe it. After all this time?
He spoke to the boys that he was with and they agreed, even Jinyoung. He needed to apologize for not going to see them when he had been so prominent in their lives until now.
There was also a degree of acceptance that needed to come forward.
Jackson was gone and they needed to move on with their lives.
