The alleyway was dimly lit by the moon overhead, and cluttered by various rubbish bins, stray crates and random piles of rubbish. Obi had nearly slipped on a mystery puddle of liquid more than once, and her leg wasn't really helping her situation. She panted heavily as she ran, her breath leaving silver trails behind her as she attempted to get back to the main street. From there she could make her way back to the pawn shop and meet up with Davey.
She skidded clumsily to a stop before she rounded the next corner and paused. A faint murmur drifted round the corner. People. She breathed a sigh of relief as she took off her mask and gloves, hiding them in her jacket. She pulled out her phone and called Davey as she walked out on to the street. "Obi! Where are you, why weren't you returning any of my calls? You had me worried sick, are you ok?" she held the phone back from her ear slightly as Davey yelled down the phone. She smiled at couple who gave her a funny look as they walked by.
"Yeah Davey, I'm fine. No need to get worried." She heard him inhale deeply on the other end. "So, umm...small issue."
"And that is?" she scratched the back of her neck.
"I may or may not be lost right now." Disappointed silence. "Could you, uh, direct me home?"
"How long have you lived here now? How do you not know where to go?" she chuckled nervously.
"Soo...should I describe the location or..?"
"Yeah, just...just give me a minute I'm heading there now."
"Alright." She glanced around. "Hmm...oh! I can see the docks in the distance. And...there's a pizza shop nearby, 'Nancy's Noms-'" She snorted and covered her mouth. "Oh sweet servos, is that an actual place? Like, this is a restaurant people go to?"
"Yes it is, now stay where you are I'm nearly there."
"Alright, alright." She hung up and leaned against a nearby wall, leaning heavily on her good leg. "Should I have told him about that?" she stretched her arms and looked up at the sky. She could just make out the stars through the orange haze created by the city. "Nah...not his problem. He'll want to get more involved next time. I can't risk that." She waited like that for a couple of minutes. It was nice. The night was filled with the murmur of a crowd and the distant sounds of the city, and the faint scent of salt was drifting down the street from the docks. It brought back memories – good ones...
"Obi!" She turned her head lazily down the street. Davey was jogging towards her, his relief becoming evident as he got closer to her. She smiled and stepped away from the wall. She winced slightly as she rested her weight back on her injured leg; Davey frowned. She just shrugged and shook her head in response. He pursed his lips before smiling warmly.
"There you are! I swear, we've got to go on a walk sometime to get you used to the island. Can't keep bailing you out like this ya'know." She smiled back and chuckled. She could practically hear him groaning inside. He hated it when he had to act sociable, but it was a necessary evil sometimes. Nonetheless, they tried not to put themselves in a position where it had to be used. "Come on, let's home. I've ordered takeaway."
"Thank goodness. If you'd said you were cooking I might have gotten lost again." She winked at him. He scoffed and put his arm over her shoulder, her doing the same so that they supported each other. It was a...awkward arrangement. She was taller than him by a good few inches, so it wasn't doing much good in the ways of supporting her leg. They could worry about that later though. Right now, they just needed to get out of there without making a scene.
"What happened?" she turned her head to Davey. He was still smiling, but the sideways glance he gave her showed how concerned he was.
"Tell you when we get back." She assured him. She bit her lip as she turned away again. She didn't mean for him to get this worried, it wasn't even much to get worried about. Not herself anyways. Sam on the other hand. She frowned. That was a different matter...
