I stared at her. Maybe she would understand if I just explained a bit more. "Didn't you feel the same at my age?" She shook her head. "Whatever you are on about, it's wrong. You KNOW that." Maybe there was no point in arguing. "Can you just try to listen?" She looked at me. "Why would i ever listen to you?" Her words hit me really hard. She said it as if I had something wrong. As if I was her nemesis. "Because I actually know something! You are acting so weird, Alice!" I felt anger rush through my body.
I couldn't believe that she didn't feel the same as me. She sighed. "You don't understand, do you? It's not about me. It's about us. You are acting like it's all about you and your emotions." I started to sweat. I tried to rub my hands to calm myself, or just distract me. "Excuse me?" I said. "I'm not freaking stupid." I was about to storm out of the room, but I tried to calm myself. "Heather." She tried to take my arm, in a comforting way. I pulled back. Her eyes looked hurt. "Please let me comfort you." I then felt the snap. "How dare you? HOW DARE YOU? Honestly, if you ever want to learn something then you should learn to stop being so god damn a-arrogant. You're so.." I looked at her. I didn't want to say it. "You're just unbelievable." I stormed out of the room. I ran through the house, and grabbed my coat.
"Heather! Listen to me!" I ignored her. I couldn't focuse. My hands felt numb and I couldn't feel my body. With fumbling hands, I grabbed my bag. I heard her footsteps come closer. "Heather, just wait." I stopped. "WHAT?" I yelled. She arrived in the hall and saw me. "No no no. You can't leave." Her green eyes looked afraid, and started to well up. "They're going to kill me." Her mouth started to vibrate and she gasped. "I can't stay here. You all are crazy." She touched my shoulder. "Just listen to me." I shook my head. "I don't trust you and your lies." I felt bad for her, but I had to trust my gut. "I'm sorry," I said. "What? Are you leaving?" She said. I barely smiled at her. I kicked her in the stomach, and ran as fast as I could. I slammed the door behind me. I saw the guards walk in front of the wall. I ran up to one of them. "I can't explain it, but please listen to me. There's someone dangerous in the house and you need to investigate it. Please get me out of here." The guard looked concerned. "I can't let anyone in our out, but I trust you. We'll look into it." I thanked the guard. They opened the gate, and as soon as I was out everything was locked. I saw Alice being shut out. I started to run more and more. I passed so many houses and people looking strangely at me, and then I finally arrived at the place where the speeches are held.
I walked up to the podium. Some people saw me and started whispering to each other. I had to do something. I felt so nervous, but they needed a warning. "Everyone! Please listen to me." More people started to turn their heads towards me. "I have been quiet for long. But now I need to tell the truth. You have all been experiencing that your friends have disappeared. I know where they are. They're all in a safe location outside of the biggest walls. Far away. Everytime you see the truckd full of mail, someone is being carried inside of it. If they ever come back, do not trust everything they say. They are trying to control all of us. Do not trust Alice, do not trust Michael, do not trust Olivia. Be careful, and try to find a way out. They want to use you as power. Make you into their army. Their fighters and their builders. Please stay safe." People gasped. They started to mutter between them. I heard the sound of a car driving closer. I waved at the crowd, and started to run again. I ran for about 10 minutes before arriving at the final gates. There were about 20 guards there. I didn't have a choice. I tried to walk past them, but of course they saw me. "Oh my god it's Heather. Why are you here?" I sighed. I couldn't give up. "Please. They are crazy in here. Just let me out or come with me. Just let me go. I haven't done anything wrong." They looked at me. "I'll come with you," someone muttered. "Who?" I said. A girl looked at me. I can help. We need to leave. The guards seemed puzzled. "Let us out," She said. They started to touch the gate, in a weird formation. The girl touched it too, and it opened. I grabbed the girl's arm and we ran. The gate was locked as soon as we were out.
It was a bit weird for us to hold hands since we didn't know each other.
