Peter's POV:

I had made up my mind: I was going to 'run into her' as Spiderman and strike up a conversation. I much preferred my super self to my normal one, and since I was too awkward to practically look at (Y/n) all day, Spidey was clearly the better of the two. Something else bothered me: the girl's sunglasses. She hadn't even taken them off when the lights were shut off for a presentation, which would probably make it nearly impossible to see. And the teacher didn't even question it. I followed her to her apartment complex, telling myself that I wasn't stalking, and when she went to the roof decided to make my move. I had landed near-silently when she whirled around, in a perfect defensive stance. I put my hands up in surrender and for a while she stared at me (at least, I think that's what she was doing, what with the sunglasses and all) before opening her mouth.

"Who the heck are you and why are you staring at me?" was I staring? Oh well. I swaggered closer to her.

"Why, I'm just your friendly neighborhood Spiderman! And who are you, sitting all alone on the roof?"

"The name is (Y/n), and for your information I'm trying to focus. I really need to update Ja-PAID's software, and-" she seemed to realize that she wasn't back wherever she came from and shut up.

"What's Ja-PAID?" I teased gently.

"Do superheroes exist?" she blurted out so fast I figured she had been thinking for a very long time. I touched a hand to my heart, pretending to be hurt.

"What else would I be? Chopped liver? Spider's silk? Splotches of multicoloured paint, perhaps?"

"Oh, I don't know... It's just that Tony-Stark-Dad-ugh, whatever, keeps saying that they don't."

"Tony Stark is you dad? And he told you that superheroes aren't real? Tony Stark? Super rich guy, has a red metal suit thing? That Tony Stark?"

"Uhh... Yeah? I mean, he's pretty much never home because he's at that tower, but... yeah."

"That's because he's with the Avengers!!!!!" Spiderman burst out. "I KNOW Mr. Stark! No way he thinks superheroes aren't a thing, because he is one." I regretted the words as soon as they left my mouth. (Y/n) paled visibly, though only her face was visible. Suddenly, she burst into an uncontrollable fit of laughter.

"Oh god. That makes a million times more sense! He told me that they were his live action roleplaying group! No way on earth Tony roleplays."

"Tony? I thought you said he was your dad. I am super confused..." Spiderman shook his head.

"He's my adoptive father, but he wants me to call him dad." cue the eyeroll. "I never really got into the habit. My parents... they were electrocuted to death three weeks after my tenth birthday, along with my brother. I was-am the sole survivor." Spiderman himself was surprised with how well his plan was working, and she just continued monologuing. "The only actual link I have left to them is PAID, nicknamed Jagger. He's my AI, designed and programmed with my lost brother's voice and personality. My dad, Tony, he's super protective. The one guy I ever liked was shipped to... It was Australia, I think."

"Wow, that's pretty far away. I guess if I want to stay here in Queens I shouldn't flirt then, right?" (Y/n) shrugged.

"I dunno, I think I may be developing a crush on someone already. Oh, not you!" she assured, "But there's this guy... Maybe I'm just overreacting."

(Y/n)'s POV:

Jag was informing me that there was a crime being committed somewhere across town. I raised a hand to my earpiece and switched it to telepathy mode, so I could pretend to be listening to Spiderman, but actually be conferring with Jagger. Spiderman kept ranting about how hard it is to make friends sometimes, and (Y/n) ordered Jagger to do a bodyscan.

"You know that scanning a male's body could be considered wrong, right? Or is that what you want?" Jag said in a suggestive tone.

"EW JAG GROSS! Gag, dude!" Spiderman looked at me, stopping mid-lecture to stare. It was obvious that I had said it out loud. I went red. "M-my AI is being extra smart right now..."

"Uh, okay. What was he saying?" Spiderman was pretending to be interested, but he probably didn't care in the slightest.

"Something about scanning your body being inappropriate. Though honestly I'm beginning to regret programming him like a teasing big brother." Jag finally performed the scan, indicating that Spiderman had no weapons. "Jagger, call Mr. Stark." a loud beeping sounded in my ears, meaning that Tony had remotely programmed Jag to call only 'dad'. "OW! Stop trying to make me go deaf, will ya? Ugh, fine. Jagger, call dad." he picked up after a couple of rings. I put him on speaker. "Hi dad. I thought it would interest you to know that I've been having a very interesting conversation with Spiderman on my roof."

"Spiderman." he said flatly. "Yay. I guess you know all my secrets now, right?" he sounded as flat as my helmet now was.

"Yep, pretty much. Let me tell you, you being a superhero makes a thousand times more sense than you LARPing." at this he laughed slightly.

"Well, I had to tell you something to cover up my heroicness! Of course, I had guessed you would eventually find out that other people had powers." my heart dropped into my stomach.

"Dad! You're on speakerphone and Spiderman is still here." the hero in question was slowly walking closer.

"Oops, sorry honey. But anyway you know you don't have SUPERpowers, but heightened powers of observation." nice save, dad. Nice save. I hung up and turned around, but Spiderman had left. At least, that's what I had thought. All of a sudden, I sensed a presence behind me, about to swoop in and take my sunglasses. I ducked, but not in time. The red-covered hands knocked my sunglasses off, and I pressed my gloved ones to my eyes to hide the constantly swirling colours. I shut my eyes, instead relying on my superior senses to guide me.

"Spiderman. Why did you attempt to remove my sunglasses? Did it never occur to you that I might need them?" there she was, slipping into her formal tone.

"Sure it did. But can you blame a guy for wanting to see a gorgeous girl's eyes?" Spiderman flirted back.

"Thanks, but I'm not gorgeous. You'd certainly be singing a different tune if I wear wearing short sleeves on. And I've got to go." I stood up and went inside, stripping to my suit and activating my helmet. I opened my wings, which had started to cramp. I flew out a different window then I would have liked to, but still arrived at the hostage situation before Spiderman. As I sized up the situation I thought about myself. Gorgeous was definitely a long ways off. In fact, hideous would be a better word choice. I had those freakish eyes, one of my arms was smaller than the other, and I was covered in ugly scars, similar to those of someone struck by lightning. the hostages were easily freed by rerouting the electricity closing the doors to my nervous system. All I had to do about the criminals themselves was freeze them from the neck down. Doing a quick flyby to secure the scene, I noticed Peter Parker standing there with a camera in his hands and I swooped down to him. (A/n: this is basically a mashup of anything to do with Spiderman so yes he's a reporter in high school.)

"I'm-uh, a reporter and, well, I was hoping for possibly your name and maybe a few pictures?"the shy Peter Parker had returned.

"Call me Calumina."
