He was fiddling with his fingers as the nurse came in.

"Sir, would you like me to grab you a water? I'm going out for more of her supplies." She offered sweetly. Sans didn't even look at her.

"No, thanks." He mumbled. "I'm just here to see if she'll start saying anything to me." He looked back to Frisk.

She didn't even say goodbye to me, He thought. I didn't get to see her smile before she fell to the ground.

Frisk's chest rose and fell gently, no sign of her getting up anytime soon, but no sign of her having anything worse.

"Is there any more news?" He asked the nurse who was about to walk out the door. She looked at him sympathetically.

"Good news, her wake up due was a few days ago, but—bad news—they said at worst it could be another month before she does wake up." It felt like a small weight was lifted.

At least it's something, right?

It had been three months since she fell.

Sans nodded.

"Thanks."

"Don't worry about her too much, she'll be out of here before you know it."

That is the most false thing you have ever said.

Sans stayed still, not reacting to what she said. The nurse returned with the supplies later, then left again, and Sans broke down.

He couldn't help the sobs escaping from his mouth as he squeezed his eye sockets tightly shut.

"Fuck," he mumbled. "Why does she have to do this to me?" He rubbed his hands over his eyes, trying to stop the rushing tears.

He couldn't stop them, so he just cried.

Finally, he composed himself.

"You know, kid," he chuckled dryly. "You have a big place in my heart. It's pretty annoying sometimes because I want to not care as much as I do..." He chuckled again as a tear escaped.

"But I can't seem to. You just have that personality that I can't help but feel drawn to, and your looks ain't helping that feeling in my soul." He confessed. He pressed his fists to his mouth.

"You know the worst part, kid?" He asked to the silence in the room. When no one answered, he spoke up.

"I love you with all my soul. I want to hold you again. I want to heal this massive crack that's taking over me, but you're asleep, and who knows when you'll open those pretty little eyes for me again?" He shook his head and stood up, still refusing to look at her throughout that long speech.  He checked his watch, and realized he had a session with Mrs. Rockshire in an hour.

"I'm heading out. I'll be back later," he told her as he trudged to the doorway. He was nearly out when he heard a soft and meek voice say something that nearly made his heart burst.

"I think it's humerus you admitted to all that, because I didn't think you had a serious bone in your body."

Sans POV

I stopped dead in my tracks.

My mind was playing tricks on me.

She wasn't awake.

Was she?

My head slowly turned around, looking to the bed with the sleeping angel with tubes.

Only she wasn't sleeping.

She was smiling, her weak and tired eyes opened barely as she looked in my direction.
