A few days had passed since Christmas and that strange situation that I found myself in. My boss had been kind and let me have the rest of the time off until new years had passed so I had lots of time to hang out with Katsu.
"Morning sleepy head." Katsu said as I stretched and reached out to hug him
"Morning!" He snickered and hugged back before heading to the kitchen. I followed him still with droopy eyes from just getting out of bed.
"Do you want anything? Coffee?" He raised his eyebrow.
"Yeah that would be great, thanks." I sit at the table and wait while Katsu makes my breakfast, we had coffee with some pancakes. As you can tell we are a little obsessed with pancakes and I don't know why, probably cause they are just delicious.
"Today is New Year's Eve so everywhere will most likely be closed, so all we can do is stay here or go anywhere on campus." I feel more alive after eating so I think about what we could do. We already went to the art room, I mean my writing would be boring for him to listen to so that leaves us nothing to do except go to the library.
"Hmmm... well we could stay here and chill or go to the library." I suggest and he scrunches up his nose at the idea of going to the library on a day off.
"I'm good with literally anything but that." I laugh at his comment. To be honest I like the library, it's nice and quiet. It's somewhere where I can let my mind run wild and not get comments or weird stares from anyone.
"We could stay home and watch a movie... Or maybe you could show me something that you wrote?" Oh no, I definitely was not prepared for this.
"Well... I'm not sure if you will be interested... It can be pretty boring." I warned him but I was also uneasy about showing him.
"You idiot!" He flicks my forehead. "Why wouldn't I be interested in something my boyfriend did? I'm sure it's amazing, just show me. I want to learn more about you." I blush and let out a sigh of defeat.
"Okay... But don't laugh."
"I promise I won't." I go over to my desk and dig through the draw to pull out a notebook full of poems and stories. I walk over to the living room and sit on the couch next to Katsuki and open up the book.
"Umm." I clear my throat, nervous.
"It's okay, I showed you my art now it's your turn." I nod and turn to the page I wanted to read.
I talk a deep breathe and start reading.
"Home / means a warm seat of your father's old car / means a room with sunlight and no furniture / means everything has ended
Love / means to be forgiven, forgiven and forgiven / means your favorite color is remembered / means you left but didn't really
Name / means you have been alive / means there is a chance / means you reminded someone of daylight. "I look up at Katsu and he has his face fixated on my face with the look of extreme concentration. Did he like it...
"So... Was it good?" I ask nervously.
"Good? That was fucken amazing. I could never ever write like that." He smiles and I let out the breath that I had been holding.
"Thank God I thought you were going to say it was bad or something!"
"I would never." He leans over and rests his head on my lap.
"Ummm." I say awkwardly not knowing what to do in this situation. I hesitantly lay my hand on his hair and caress it. Katsuki just stays still and I feel his chest slowly rising and falling. Then after a few minutes his eyes closed and I thought that he had fallen asleep. I lean over him so that my face is only inches away from his face, how the hell did I become so lucky? Suddenly Katsu puts his hand behind my head and pushes me towards his face so that he could softly kiss me. I was a little bit startled at first, but then I softened at his touch.
"How about later tonight we go to the night markets in the city?" He looks up at me.
"Yeah, sounds fun." I smile down at him looking at the ring he gave me.
The day passed pretty quickly, we did our usual things and Katsuki even gave me another art lesson which didn't go so well. It was finally twilight and we went down the Katsuki's car and drove for about fifteen minutes until we reached the market. It was beautiful, there were little stores everywhere with fairy lights lining the streets.
"Wow!' My eyes twinkled when I looked into the distance. Katsu grabs my hand in his and we start looking around at all the little stores. I ended up buying a nice fluffy hoodie (you can never have too many) and Katsu brought some weights for working out. There was a sign on the wall saying there was a firework show at midnight so we decided to stick around until then, then go home afterwards. I have to admit walking through the crowd was hard, if I wasn't holding onto Katsuki's hand I would have gotten lost.
"I can't see anything!" I pout. There was a huge crowd and it was cramped when word was getting around about the firework show.
"Come with me." I follow Katsuki until we reach the top of a hill.
"What the?? Where did this hill come from? We're in the middle of the city." I was confused at where the hell we could be.
"This has always been here, now it's nearly time." He hurried me to sit down next to him. He really knows where to go all the time, I mean no one else is here!
The count down to a new year starts and I feel a twisting knot in my stomach, it's the feeling of anxiety yet it also feels like excitement for a new year full of hope. "Five! Four! Three! Two! One! Happy New Year!!!!" Everyone yells out (including me) and then I turn to Katsu and give him a small smile.
"Happy New Year Katsuki!" He smiles and returns it.
"Yeah Happy New Year Eijirou." We hug and then we do what new year tradition says, Kat lays a kiss on my lips ever so softly and for the first minute of a new year, it is going exactly how I wanted it to go. As long as I'm with Katsuki, I will forever be peaceful and happy.
