GRANDMA

I remember when I used to count stars at night,
And get frustrated each time I forgot the number.
Then you said its equal to the amount of love you have for me,
And with a sweet lullaby you made me go to sleep in my slumber.
I remember getting bullied by the girls in my class,
They said I was ugly and made fun of my hair.
I had no friends and nothing that a little girl wishes to have,
And you were the only one who actually cared.
I remember when I was sick, couldn't sleep at all,
And you were the one one who was beside me the whole night.
No matter whatever the situation was,
I knew that can always find you by my side.
Then I remember making friends for the first time,
And they were the one who wore expensive dresses and traveled in plane.
I started running after broken glasses thinking they were diamonds,
Started searching for the ways from which I can impress them.
I got introduced to a whole new world,
It had lights and colors and glamour everywhere.
I started looking down on you because you were simple,
I got embarrassed by the kind of clothes you wear.
Time passed and I was getting distant from you,
You and I were completely in two different zones.
I was now more happy in the outside world,
Whereas you found happiness in memories that we had in the home.
One day suddenly I got lost in this world,
Had no money in hand and couldn't find my way.
Someone turned off the lights and no one was by my side,
I saw the colourless part of the world that day.
I started walking down those empty roads,
Searching for some one who was willing to hold my hand.
The only person standing there was you,
Like a tall green tree in a dry deserted land.
All I could feel was guilty and ashamed,
And tears started flowing down like rivers.
I promised myself to become a better grand child now,
And give my grandma all the love that she deserves.
Maybe after some 60 years later when I'll have grandchildren of my own,
Their grandma counting stars at night they will see.
They will question "What the hell is wrong with you grandmom ?"
I'll smile and reply,
"I am just trying to figure out how much an angel really loved me."

~ My grandmother taught me everything except how to live without her.......

Hope you like it.
Any suggestions and opinions are welcome.
THANK YOU :)
