Boarding school. I hadn't been able to get those words out of my head for a while but by now I was kind of used to it. I was old enough to understand why it was best to send us here so I just quit complaining. It has been six years already and I was still a little mad. Mad at my mom for sending us away. And mad at my dad for letting her.
But it wasn't all bad. Andrew found a really close friend and so did I. I think I spend almost every day of the past years with Jahzara and it's been nothing but fun. She waslike a sister to me and I think that's wonderful. Andre was happy with Bilal as well. But I didn't know too much about their relationship. My brother was never the one to talk a lot and I had rarely seen them together. But it's not like I cared anyways.
I was happy with Jahzara. She was seventeen, just like me and I met her in french class. Her parents were originally from Africa so she had a wonderful chocolate skin. Her black Afro and natural blue eyes didn't make her less beautiful. She was just drop dead gorgeous and sometimes I wondered why she would want to be friends with plain old Audrey.
That day we were meeting up with the boys after class. Andrew wanted to show me a new restaurant in town and Bilal and Jahzara decided to stick around. I had to admit not being excited to meet Bilal. The guy was always mocking me and it was just super annoying. Andrew and Jahzara finding that cute didn't help AT ALL. He was the biggest pain in the ass.
But as long as I get food I would be able to keep up with him. At least Jahzara would be with me for mental support. Or just for food. She and I were just too similar.
It was 5 PM. Drew said something about picking us up at 5.20 so I had enough time to prepare. Since he got his driver's license everything was way easier. He could drive and pick me up everywhere like a personal chauffeur and I was living for it.
I went to the bathroom of Jahzara and I's dorm and took a quick shower. Since I had washed my hair that morning it didn't take me too long. The refreshing cold trickled down my body and I let out a heavy breath. The day was exhausting as usual.
I stepped out the shower and wrapped myself up in a towel. Then I ran into my room, the water still dripping from my wet skin. Opening my closet I felt unsure of what to wear. It was a pretty fancy restaurant Andrew was taking me to and there would be Bilal also. It's not like I wanted to impress him, really not, but I just didn't want to give him another opportunity to annoy me with his nasty remarks.
I looked through my closet and took out a deep red silk neckhalter dress. Jahzara had bought me the piece of fabric a few months ago to match with her blue one but I never got the chance to wear it.
Guess today's the day. I sighed. If you want good grades and enough sleep also, your social life suffers or is just simply non-existent. Welcome to my life.
I started searching for some red heels and ironically I even found some in the corner of my wardrobe. Putting them on I tried recalling when I bought them but I couldn't seem to get it. In that moment Jahzara appeared in the door frame. She was wearing a blue skirt and top, her heels matching perfectly. My best friend was a queen. I looked at her smiling awkwardly.
"Ready, Angel?" She asked smiling. I nodded. Then I walked out the door while brushing my hair behind my ear. While waiting for Drew to pick us up Zara decided to apply a bit of make up to my face to "make the whole look perfect" as she put it. I bet she just didn't want to be seen with an ugly best friend. Can't blame her for that.
I sighed as she drew a perfect cat eye onto my eyelid. Then she pulled a red lipstick out of her purse and put some on her finger. Applying it to my plump lips, she smiled. "You are gorgeous" she whispered but I didn't believe one word.
I wasn't gorgeous. Not even close.
