The next class was dance! As I started to walk to dance, everyone was glaring at me, knowing how I ruined the pyramid. I sighed, but then came to a realization that they would love me after I showed them how I dance. Our dance teacher Harlee showed us a dance using 8 moves and everyone had to memorize it to see where we stand with dance.
"This is dumb!" Jordan says
"I can't remember this!" a girl named Katy said while rolling her eyes
Everyone started arguing until I said,
"I know the dance..."
While everyone started to look at me, Harlee came up to me
"You do?" She says smiling while I nodded.
"Go ahead and let's see what you got!"
So I walked up to the dance mat, breathed in and out, and danced to the beat of the music. I danced perfectfully, flawlessly, amazingly, so awesome that everyone's jaws was opened all the way. After I was done, everyone clapped for me, even Jordan!
"Wow trout," Harlee says "You're really good!"
I smiled, said thank you, and went to everyone else.
"What's your name?" a girl asked me
"Mercedez, yours?"
"Jasmine!" she says while smiling
"Cool name, Jasmine"
"Thank y-"
Before she could finish Harlee blew her whistle, which meant we had to run 2 laps....😑
**30 minutes later**
After the laps Harlee let us rest for a good 20 seconds
"Now guys, get with a partner, don't ask why yet!"
Everyone looked at me wanting to be their partner.
"Heyyyyyyy Mercedez! Can I call you Merce?"
"I love your outfit Mercedez"
"You're so pretty omg"
"Can we be partners pleaseeeeee?!"
"Let's be friends right now"
"If you be my partner I'll buy you food and Starbucks!"
These and many more people were coming up to me, BEGGING to be their partner. At first, I didn't know who to pick. So I picked the person who was nice to me since I came to dance
"JASMINE can be my partner" I said while looking at her. She smiled, nodded, and off we go to a different mat.
Everyone moaned and walked away while Harlee laughed.
"Now you and your partner are going to make a dance together called a duet! You have to include 8 or more moves in your dance, and this is due tomorrow when you come back to class!"
A person raised their hand
"Ms. Harlee, what happens if we don't finish in class?"
"Go home with them then!" Harlee says while laughing.
"I have an announcement when you come to class tomorrow as well, so be prepared with your dance and dancing knowledge, as no one was prepared but Mercedez"
"Anyways...MAKE YOUR DANCE NOW" Harlee whistles
"Okayyy, so are you into dance?" I ask Jasmine
"No I'm more of a cheer person"
Jasmine and I were struggling for the first 10 minutes of class thinking of how we can do a dance with 2 different people liking 2 different things.
"Hey I have an idea!" Jasmine says
"Tell me!"
"What if we add dance AND cheer to our routine?"
"How would we do that?" I asked Jasmine confused.
"Watch!"
Right after she said watched, she did flips, stunts, and all kinds of stuff! I was amazed!
"I'll show you how to do these stunts, since I know you're a fast learner, but you can do flips so that'll help a lot!"

The bell rang, and we realized that we didn't even start our dance while others were halfway done!
"Hey that's okay, why don't you come over to my house?" Jasmine says
"Today? Wait, like right now?!"
"Yeah! Why not, Let's go!"
"Mercedez and Jasmine, can you come here for a second?" Harlee says to me while I was leaving the room with Jasmine.
"You are a really good dancer!"
"Haha thank you Ms. Harlee!"
"And you're a really good cheerleader!"
Jasmine smiled and said thank you
"You see, all departments need a co captain, cheer needs a co captain, track and swim needs a co captain, and dance need a co captain as well!"
"Cool! How can we help?" Jasmine says
"You guys can be the cheer co captain and dance co captain!" Harlee says
Jasmine and I looked at eachother and gasped, realizing this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
"We're supposed to be telling you guys next week but we want our really good ones prepared earlier" The cheer coach Katie says while she walks into the dance room.
"Why us?" I ask
"Well you're a fast learner" Harlee says to me
"And you can do stunts, flips, and tricks really good!" Katie says to Jasmine
"What do we do to be prepared?" Jasmine asks
Harlee hands me a rubric, while Katie hands Jasmine a rubric.
"No other trout will be given our score rubric, so follow all of those, do the best you can, and don't tell NO ONE about this!" Harlee says while we both nod our head
"When do we need to be done with this?" I ask
"In 2 months, right now it's October 29th, and your routines for the co captain tryouts are not until December 21st." Katie says
"But the dance you guys learned in class today is due tomorrow still" Harlee says while smiling
It takes Jasmine and I a minute to take all of this in but we agreed to these tasks
"We won't let you down!" Jasmine and I say.
A minute later we say our goodbyes and off to Jasmine's house I go!
Little did I know we would have a surprise in store for us later.....
