Lexi's P.O.V
On our way to the party space, my mind slipped into thoughts of what could happen in the upcoming hours.
Out of nowhere, I vividly heard an unknown voice in my mind repeating my name.
Confusion filled my mind as I pulled myself back into reality. I felt Newt constantly tapping me on the shoulder. He repeated my name in a raised voice to get my attention.
I responded, "Yeah, sorry I was daydreaming."
"No, you're fine, love." He replied with a soft tone in his voice. "What were you thinking about?"
"Imagining what tonight will be like, that's all," I answered with a subtle smile on my face.
"Don't worry, you'll have a bloody good time tonight," he explained, returning the smile. There he goes with that adorable nickname and warm-hearted smile again; I swear this boy will be the death of me.
We soon reached the unlit stack of wood and Newt and Alby departed from the group temporarily to help out two blonde haired boys with something.
About 30 minutes later, it was finally starting to get dark out. Newt walked up to Thomas and I and asked: "Would you two like to join us? We always have the new greenie help light the fire."
Thomas and I nodded our heads in agreement.
"Great," he replied and walked off.
A couple of minutes later Alby gathered everyone around the stack of wood. He started handing out torches to all the keepers along with Thomas and I then Newt lit the end of each one on fire. We formed a circle around the unlit wood, waiting for Alby's cue to light the fire.
"Ready guys, light it up," Alby yelled. We threw the sticks into the stack of wood and it ignited, forming a tall, un-tamed, blazing hot fire.
After, we all dispersed and went our own ways. I went and found Thomas. We sat down on the ground in front of a log. Silence followed for a second before Thomas asked: "So how was your tour from Newt?"
"Pretty good, he answered all of my questions. We also got to know each other better, " I explained.
Thomas' expression became stiff and judgemental.
"You know he's very kind and caring," I added.
His expression didn't seem to soften. Instead he said, "He may seem warm-hearted but I don't trust him. So do me a favor and stay away from him," he said forcefully.
I was overcome with mixed emotions; confusion and unhappiness. I got up from my spot and frantically tried to get away from Thomas. I needed time to myself, I didn't want to cry in front of everyone. I hate crying in front of people.
I was so focused on getting away from everyone that I ran right into someone. The unknown voice said "Ow," he paused for a second which gave me the chance to observe his features; blonde slicked back hair, weirdly shaped eyebrows and he wore a brown button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, lightly washed blue jeans, a brown tool belt around his waist, and tan wristlets. He was ugly. He then continued with a snarky remark, "Now where would a pretty little thing like you be heading, the party is just getting started."
Newt noticed what was going on and sprinted over to us. He questioned the guy; "Gally, what the bloody hell do you think you're doing?" Ah, that's the cocky guy's name. Fitting.
Gally took a step backward to make it look like he gave me space. Personally, he was still somewhat close to me. "Just making small talk that's all," he lied.
