Desian sighed at the sight of the room after waking up but still feeling lethargic; the blinds were shut, the bed messy with evidence of sleepless nights, the room silent with just paintings to keep him and Violet company.
"If only you were still here mother...But you had better plans that didn't include me. All you've left me are painful memories..." He thought to himself-Des' lifted his heavy body from Violets lap and shifted around the room A black shirt, a red hoodie, black skinny ripped jeans. He had no intentions of impressing anyone with fashion statements. He wasn't the type to care for style or opinions anymore, quite the loner until he met her. Violet was everything to him. His soulmate, his lover, even his wife although they were never married.
During this time it was already Christmas: the fields were heavy with snow, trees drizzled with ice and the lake frozen still making it more peaceful than usual. Some time has passed until Desian realised he hadn't gotten Violet her present yet, filling him with guilt and embarrassment but never the less, a bright idea. So, he ran through the charted streets with business thriving at every corner in the daylight as the sun crept through the cracks of buildings in the near by town he travelled to through the village. It was hard to admit that it was a terrible place, but instead the flickering lights of pure joy were seen through windows, on houses, and even on presents for those who had big plans for the holidays and those who had families they wanted to surprise. The element of surprise was always a mystery and still is. It was puzzling to Desian because he didn't like surprises. Knowing you are receiving something unknown filled him with anxiety and fear."Will I like it? Will she like it? Is it good enough? How could it be better?"- These were the chants that chimes in the head of thoughts of others and even Desian himself when getting a present for those they find and hold dear.
It's been a while since he seen Violet cheerful and happy over the holidays after the incident with her father... this, which made him panic more with anger but ignored it and set his task to find the perfect gift. And finally, after hours of searching: he found something better than he had hoped or ever expected. A locket of pure emerald diamond shaped as a tear drop.
It was perfect for Violet. The green would bring out her eyes and make her shine with the most beautiful glow that her smile could provide. She was an angel after all.A smile curved against his cheeks and he set off to head home; back to Violet, his only home that was all he desired and wanted from a very young age after what had happened with his mother.... The incident which had scarred him and taught him a great deal of lessons. Someone who couldn't leave him (like Violet) was all he wanted. Someone who loved him unconditionally. He wanted Violet. Only her. No one else. Just her.
