"Stop feeling sorry for yourself. I know you lost everything you so worked hard for, but you're still here. You still have your life." Zena pulled her up to a sitting position. Even though her friend struggled to ease her from the brink of death and despair, Gwen had given in to the situation.

Her life was over. What she saw every day was equal to a hell-like existence. At every turn, there was one reminder or another of the life she lived before. Then like a pot of hot water being thrown in her face, there it sat. The one thing that slammed her back into this new reality.

A wheelchair. Her wheelchair. When her eyes landed on it, tears streamed down her face as if a tidal wave had been released.

No longer was she the confident woman who conquered the obstacles that sprung up in her life.

"I don't want to live. Please. Oh god please just let me die. I can't do this. I'm tired. I can't fucking do this." She begged for her friend to help her end it all. The suffering was just too great.

"Damn it. I can't believe I forgot."  Guilt filled Jacob's heart as the picture flashed across the screen. He stared at his cellphone as the stark reminder ripped his attention away from all previous thoughts. He lost the most important part of his life and this was the first time his life was too busy for him to remember.

Jacob made a quick u-turn forcing his tires to squeal in their attempt to quickly redirect his truck back in the direction of his home. There was no way he could deal with this of all days.No longer was she the confident woman who conquered the obstacles that sprung up in her life.

Any mistake was sure to make him snap.

When he felt his cellphone vibrating, he instantly resented the person who made the foolish decision to brave a phone call with him on today of all days.

"Look... I can't do this right now. You need to handle it yourself. That's what I pay you for." Jacob barked at the caller before he was able to gain control of his emotions.

"Dude, I'm really sorry. I know this is a hard time for you, but the client ..." The frantic voice managed to crack through his wall of despair.

"Alright man, alright. I'm on my way."
