Chapter 13
The next day...Jeff POV
We were at a restaurant for dinner. It was a somewhat fancy restaurant. Nick told me that they always come here on Christmas Eve. And so do a lot of people apparently because it's so crowded in here.
I got spaghetti for dinner and it was literally the best spaghetti ever.
"Are we going home now?" I asked Nick.
"Nope. We're going to go look at Christmas lights."
"Oh..."
We got in the car. I watched out the window as we drove past a ton of Christmas lights. They were so pretty.
But I ended up falling asleep while watching.
Later...
Nick POV
When we got home, I woke Jeff up. We went to the kitchen to put our leftovers in the fridge.
"See the Christmas tree?" I asked Jeff.
He looked towards the living room.
"Yeah?"
"Tomorrow, there's going to be presents under it."
"But I didn't ask for anything."
"Doesn't matter."
We went upstairs and got changed for bed. Jeff curled up under the covers, facing my bed.
"Merry Christmas," I said, shutting off the lamp.
"Merry Christmas..."
Morning...
Jeff POV
"Wake up. It's Christmas."
I opened my eyes and saw Nick.
"It's snowing out," he said, smiling.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes a little.
"Come on. Let's go downstairs."
I followed him down. Sure enough, there were presents under the tree, just like he said. We sat down on the couch and his parents started passing out presents.
"This one's for you, Jeff," Mrs.Duval said.
I opened it and it was a new book.
"Cool! I've read my other one so many times, I'm kind of bored of it."
I watched Nick open some of his. He got some new clothes.
"This is for you too," Mrs.Duval said, handing me a small box.
I opened it, and it was a phone.
"You didn't have to get me this."
"We wanted to," Mr.Duval said.
"Well... Thanks," I said, smiling.
Later...
Nick POV
We'd eaten breakfast. Now we were just kind of hanging out in the living room. Jeff was next to me on the couch, playing on his new phone. I told him all the best apps and games to get.
"Jeff, looks like there's one more thing for you," mom said, handing him an envelope.
Jeff looked confused, but took it. I don't know what else she got for him.
I watched as he opened it. Almost immediately, he covered his mouth with his hand and started crying.
"What is it? What does it say?" I asked.
"I-it says t-they're a-adopting me!"
"Really!?"
Jeff nodded, and then got up and hugged both my parents tight.
"Thank you so much!" He said, crying.
"You're welcome, Jeff," mom said.
Jeff came back and sat down beside me.
"We get to be brothers now!" He said, excitedly.
I smiled and pulled him into a tight hug.
"I thought you said adopting him was out of the question," I said, confused.
"Well we talked it over and managed to work it out," mom said.
"Wait, did you ask them to adopt me?" Jeff asked.
"Yeah."
"Aw!"
He squeezed me tighter.
"Merry Christmas, Jeff," mom said.
"Thanks. Merry Christmas."
"You're literally the best present ever," I said, smiling.
The end.
A/N : I can't believe I managed to finish this on Christmas. I hope everyone has a great Christmas, and my next book will be the sequel to this one. It's basically what happens now that Jeff is a part of their family. Thanks for reading, voting, and commenting!
