"Hey Arya, do you mind taking a look at this?" Ron came up to my desk. He rudely interrupted my conversation with Melissa and Andy.
"What is this?" I took the paper and skimmed through it quickly.
"My fashion week piece."
"And why on God's name am I reviewing it?" I raised an eyebrow, handing him back his work.
"I just wanted your input." He said smugly.
"Get away from my desk, you're capable enough to review you're own articles!" I scolded.
"Aww, is someone still bitter they didn't go to fashion week." Ron mocked.
"Fuck off!" I dismissed him.
"You heard the lady," Melissa defended her best friend.
"Seriously Ron, aren't you too grown for this immature behavior," Andy pipped up.
Ron shrugged and left Arya's desk laughing.
"Don't pay attention to him, honey," Andy rested a reassuring arm around me, "he's just trying to rub it in your face."
"I can't wait to get out of here," an exasperated sighed escaped my mouth.
"So is that a yes from the New York Times?" Melissa asked.
"No, well not yet, I haven't heard back from them." I said.
"What about Vogue?"
"The first interview went amazing, I'm still waiting to see if I'll get a call back for the second." I said hopeful, "we deserve so much better than this junior editor slash writers for this magazine."
"You're telling us," Melissa spun in her chair.
"Sometimes it makes me wonder whether I'm truly crazy, not you guys but me.."
"Why? Are you saying that you're not good enough?" Andy raised a quizzical eyebrow.
I shrugged.
"Arya Giordano!" Melissa scolded me.
"Guys I applied for the New York Times to cover politics because, I'm into that, and I'm also into fashion and I applied to be the new fashion editor of Vogue, VOGUE! My dreams are really crazy."
"They are not crazy enough, you're an amazing journalist, Arya, don't doubt it girl. Your politics pieces are huge hits for this magazine, and you were the assistant to the editor-in-chief of Elle, and you did such an amazing job!"
"Okay Okay, I needed that pep talk," I smile contently, "did you guys get call backs from CNN?"
"We sure did!" Melissa clapped excitedly.
"Now you guys tell me!" I scolded them, but in a happy way, "how did it go?"
"We should be getting answers after Christmas."
"You guys have this in the bag, the both of you!" I said, I was truly excited for my friends, "like I said we deserve better than working for Now Beat."
Just before I could say anything else, my phone at the desk beeped. I pressed the button to hear the incoming message.
"This is Arya."
"Arya, Max wants to see you in her office, now!"
I looked at both Melissa and Andy with a confused yet worried expression.
"Good luck..." Melissa said.
I got up from my desk and went over to Max's office, I hoped Ron didn't get over dramatic about his article.
