"Here!" Kaihua said as they stop on front of a gate. A household. Roofs were high that even though you don't enter, you will be able to see that it's large. It's far from the waterbody he had been.
"But I thought you live—" he was cutted.
"No. I was there at my inn my father gave me then those thieves entered and that happened. Open!" she shouted. Doors were opened and a large household greeted them. Men were stationed at almost everywhere.
He was in awe. He was not poor but seeing all of these, he was indeed poor."You live here? "
"Come on." All of them greeted and kowtowed to her the time they saw her. No one moved. It was like a grand carriage and he was the horses pulling it.
When they reached the front of the main building, they all stood and went back to their positions. He was just there, watching the sceneries around him.
"Lady Kaihua. General Qianglie have received the news and is waiting for your presence on the dining room." the woman kowtowed in front of her.
"Take this man in a guest room and give him clothes."
"This servant will do as lady said." the servant stood and escorted Jonas into his room. Lamps were placed on the whole place. The engineering was so complicated and might mislead anyone who tries to enter without an escort. Golden furnitures and statues were also present. The lights were slightly dimmed. Rooms were seperated by thin woods and paper-like walls.
The servant didn't talk to him and obeyed the orders of their lady instead. The room he was taken consists of a single short table and a white mat with a single cotton pillow. A window barricaded with bamboos was present.
"How can someone live here comp'tably?" He sat on the mat. It's just when he remembered what happened to him before. He would just think that the 'storm' took him in a very far place where culture is different from theirs.
He was brought into reality when someone knocked on the sliding door of his room. "Come in." he answered. A servant, different from the servant that escorted him before, carries a blue tunic with a coffe in color pair of sandal. She handed it to him and stood.
"This servant will took lady's visitor's clothes." Jonas stood and waited for the servant to go outside so he could change. The servant didn't moved. He took off his white shirt and looked on the servant if she'll ever atleast turn but no. He's starting to pull of his pants while still looking at her.
"Can you turn? I feel... awkward."
"Yes." the servant turned it's back on him. It still feels awkward but atleast lessened a bit. The tunic was made of silk and reaches pass his knees. It was loosen on the arms and fitted on the body. Belt were tied on it's hips. A very loose white pant was present. It has a knot and he really don't know how to put it on. Left with no choice, he asked for the help of the servant.
"Do you know how to put this thing?" he asked shamefully. He was covering the bump on that thing. The servant neared him and helped him. "Ah. It's just like that. Thanks!"
"This servant will go if you don't need anything else. Also, the general want you to eat with them."
"Don't you have here... underwear?" he asked to the servant.
"That was the underwear." She answered while pointing at the 'pants'.
"Nevermind." The servant turned, gathered his clothes and went out. He was in the process of appreciating his clothes. Moving and walking while imagining things. When satisfied, he madd his way to the dining room. Gladly, he remembered the way to the main door and walked to the path Kaihua took before. Everything was made of fine woods and bamboos.
When he arrived at the dining room, Kaihua and a bearded man around forty were waiting. They were sitting on the opposite side of a short-legged table. Foods were served as well as the beverages.
He entered without kowtowing and that made the eyes of the general focused on him. Jonas sat beside Kaihua and held the only utensil present on the table— chopsticks. The room was filled with heavy and suffocating air yet Jonas didn't kmow this. It was so silence.
The general coughed when Jonas nearly touched the noodles. "Let me talk to him father general." Kaihua led Jonas outside the room and pushed him to a door. "What are you doing?"
"I'm invited at the dining room by the servant."
"Not that. That! I mean you must atleast greeted him and kowtowed. Don't you know that he can kill you by now?"
"What?!" Kaihua shushed him. "I didn't know, I'm sorry."
"Now get back there and plead to spare your life." Kaihua pulled him again toward the room.
When they are at the door, he kneeled and greeted the general. He was immediately dismissed. "Please spare my life for my rudeness. This man came from a very far place and uninformed of the culture and living of this place."
"I understand you. Join us." with that, Jonas sat on his seat before. "I want to thank you for saving my daughter's jewelry and my badge. I will lose my title if that was gone. And as you said, you came from somewhere far right?" Jonas nodded. "I'd like you to know that this household is always open for you. Is there anything I can give you?"
He thought and remembered that he don't have money. He knew that It'll be so much to ask for money. "I want to have a job. I lost my money while I am in my journey here and I don't know where to get for my living."
"What exactly job do you want?"
"I can be a dishwasher." Kaihua and the general laughed at this. Jonas on the other hand is confused. Did I just made something wrong?
"You were funny. I'm sure my daughter would like to have you always on her side so I like you to be my daughter's personal knight.
